E Skinns: Drill Fillers to feature at Midlands Machinery Show

Lincolshire engineers and manufacturing company E Skinns will be present at the Midlands Machinery Show on November 25 and 26 to exhibit the new Skinns Rapid Drill Filler.

This latest machine quickens up the process of corn drill filling, while making the whole process safer and more accurate.

The filler uses high-capacity augers to carry the seed corn to the top-mounted auger that swings outwards to fill drills brought alongside.

The Skinns Drill Filler has a roll-over sheet to keep the grain dry and two cleaning inspection ports.

E Skinns works foreman Tony Bradley said there were other products similar to the Skinns Rapid Drill Filler, but none work quite like this innovative design.

“The whole operation is speedy and clean with a sharp cut off,” he added. “The equipment also eliminates the use of bags of seed corn and the waste in terms of bags used, which has to be cut open making in a safer operation and reducing the amount of labour used.

“Having spoken to customers and gaining feedback, they wanted the product to be a demountable idea, utilising the chassis for either a water bowser or a general trailer.

“Farmers also need the equipment to be able to reach the drill from either the back or the side.

“If using one-tonne bags, the operator has to cut open the bag open which can lead to a potential safety hazard. This new product does not have this issue and is far more controllable.”
