German machinery manufacturer Lemken has held a symbolic ground-breaking ceremony to launch the construction of the company’s new training centre near its Alpen headquarters.
The centre will provide optimum conditions for theoretical and practical implement training on Lemken’s innovative implements for soil cultivation, tillage and crop protection. Regular, detailed training is required not only for the company’s sales and service staff, but also for the agricultural machinery dealers it works with. The new AgroFarm centre is scheduled for completion in May next year.
Lemken established a separate department for crop cultivation education and product-related training as early as in 2008, to address these issues appropriately, and the scope of training measures it offers has continually grown since, as it continues to develop its implements further and expand the company’s export share. Lemken’s various training programmes are attended by about 5,000 participants every year.
The training centre is ideally located only about three miles from Lemken’s headquarters at Alpen. The 11,000 square metre site will house a hall with a floor space of about 1,400 square metres, which will be divided into four thematic areas. Four training rooms of about 50 square metres each, changing rooms and offices will be located in an administrative building in front the hall.
The existing farmhouse on the site will be faithfully refurbished and then serve as a foyer and for entertaining; parts of the house are also available as accommodation. However, the main advantage of the site is that Lemken will be able to use surrounding arable land based on a cooperation with the local farmer.
