Quad-X has followed up its original Weed Wipeout unit with the new Weed Wipeout 2. This second-generation patented design boasts a further 14 per cent less chemical usage. This is all due to further research and development on the chemical application process for even more valuable savings on chemical as well as protecting valuable grass and clover.
“Through considerable development time and investment, we have pioneered a process of unique atomisation technology where chemical is applied in the form of micro-bubbles that attach themselves to the open fibre roller without bursting,” Quad-X design engineer JP Scullion said. “Upon contact with the weed, the micro-bubbles burst and provide better stem coverage than the standard chemical film approach.”
The Quad-X Weed Wipeout 2 achieves up to 100 per cent kill rates without the need to wipe in the other direction, saving time and chemical. The machine cleverly allows you to apply herbicide even on the windiest of days, meaning you can target the weeds at the optimum period of growth for better results.
An innovative weed detection and application system automatically activates the machine to apply the optimum amount of chemical to the rollers automatically, only when weeds are present, leaving the operator to concentrate on driving.
The Quad-X Weed Wipeout 2 comes as standard with dual rollers that rotate in opposite directions for optimum chemical application. The first roller lifts the weed leaf and applies chemical to the sensitive underside, rather than the waxy surface, for faster kill rates, while the second roller acts to separate out clumps of weeds for better application. With chemical applied to the underside of most weeds, this means they are less susceptible to chemical run off if rain should appear.
In addition to many other beneficial features, the Quad-X Wipeout 2 offers the largest height range on the market, as well as knobby 22×11-8 flotation tyres, which makes the machine suitable for use on soft/wet ground. A unique drawbar design ensures that the weeds are first to come in contact with the roller after the towing vehicle.
These design and development advances means the Wipeout 2 can offer a weed kill solution that can save up to 92 per cent in chemical. The Wipeout 2 can achieve 100 per cent kill in one pass with no dangerous offspray, all while protecting your clover with no risk of stunting the grass.
