Case IH’s new Farmall A tractor, which goes into production at the beginning of 2015, will be launched at Lamma 2015.
Designed to perform a key role in a wide range of farming businesses, the Farmall A models combine powerful, cost-effective performance in a simple, reliable, convenient-to-use and user-friendly package. The four models are the 86hp Farmall 85A, 99hp Farmall 95A, 107hp Farmall 105A and 114hp Farmall 115A.
Blending power and economy with performance and reliability, they deliver unbeatable value for money. Compared with the mechanically governed engines used in the outgoing Farmall A range, the new power units deliver significantly improved performance. Model for model, power is up to 4hp higher, maximum torque is increased by an average of 4.4 per cent, rated speed falls to 2,300rpm, rated fuel consumption is reduced by up to 3.9 per cent and optimum fuel consumption is as much as eight per cent lower (Farmall 115A). The new models also feature an exhaust on the A pillar, plus a 10 per cent larger, 121-litre fuel tank.
All models are powered by four-cylinder, 3.4-litre turbocharged and intercooled Stage IIIB compliant FPT engines that incorporate electronic injection and Bosch high-pressure common-rail fuel injection for optimum fuel efficiency. Delivering constant power output from 1,900 to 2,300rpm, they’re quick to accelerate, deliver high torque outputs – up to 457Nm at just 1,500rpm – for optimum fuel efficiency and provide up to 35.3 per cent of torque back-up.
To maximise the benefit of the new engines’ power characterists and improve fuel economy, the PTO gearing has also been revised. An engine speed of just 1,535rpm is all that’s now required to achieve the 540E PTO speed, compared with up to 1,715rpm on previous 85A and 95A tractors, while 1,000 PTO operation is achieved at an engine speed of 2,261rpm, down from 2,381rpm. All engines feature a low idle speed of just 700rpm to minimise fuel consumption, while the clean combustion achieved in the Farmalls’ FPT engines allows for a class-leading 600-hour oil change interval.
Other mechanical changes include a twin-pump hydraulic configuration with a total flow of 75 lit/min, with the option of a 100 lit/min unit. A new front axle carrier incorporates mounting pads that allow for the attachement of a front loader or front linkage, together with a recess to accommodate a front PTO shaft. This improves the versatility and performance of the new Farmall A tractors, that have a robust rear linkage capable of lifting up to 3,565kg.
Farmall 85A and 95A tractors incorporate a 12 forward/12 reverse mechanical shuttle transmission, while Farmall 105A and 115A tractors have hydraulic powershuttle as standard and include electro-hydraulic engagement of four-wheel drive.
The performance of the Farmall 85A and 95A can be enhanced by specifying the optional Productivity Pack that adds a 540E PTO speed, high-flow hydraulic pump and external linkage raise/lower lever. The 40km/hr Productivity Pack additionally increases the maximum travel speed to 40km/hr, adds a second steering ram to the front axle and on 85A and 95A models also adds electro-hydraulic engagement of four-wheel-drive to provide four-wheel braking. Farmall 85A and four-wheel-drive versions of the 95A are also available with a 40km/hr Powershuttle Pack that includes all of the above features together with a hydraulic Powershuttle.
The two-wheel-drive version of the Farmall 95A has an even tighter turning radius than the 5.8m minimum achieved by the smallest four-wheel-drive model, the Farmall 85A. Equipped with a 12 forward/12 reverse ratio transmission, the Farmall 95A can also be specified with a hydraulic powershuttle or creep speed transmission.
All models can be equipped with two mechanical mid-mount remote valves that are operated by a joystick on the right-hand console. With the addition of a Case IH LRZ loader, they’re equipped for every loading and handling task around the farm, making them a true all-rounder.
Farmall models provide a safe, clean and convenient working environment for the operator. Featuring excellent visibility, the cab is 2dB(A) quieter than its predecessor and features improved comfort and ergonomics, including a revised dashboard layout, new instrument cluster with a digital screeen, redesigned control console and new rear hitch control. An optional Vision Pack provides a
High Visibility front viewing panel, two additional rear worklights, a rear wiper and telescopic rear view mirrors.
