Terravesta: Miscanthus specialist slashes establishment costs with new planting package

Energy crop specialist Terravesta has launched a brand new miscanthus planting package for 2015 that’s designed to improve yield rates and offer an unprecedented level of convenience for growers – all while significantly reducing establishment costs.

Available now until October 17, 2014, both new and existing contracted miscanthus growers can place orders for Terravesta’s 2015 Planting Package for just £1,050/ha. This includes supply and delivery of quality-assured, refrigerated miscanthus rhizomes, precision planter loan and pre- and post-planting agronomy advice from Terravesta’s team of energy-crop experts. All farmers need to provide is a tractor, driver and two to four people to assist with the planting process.

Terravesta farms advisory manager Andy Lee said miscanthus growers were at the heart of everything the company did.

“The 2015 planting package has been launched to ensure they can benefit from competitive establishment costs matched with very best returns,” he added. “The technologically advanced process is supported by tailored agronomy expertise both during and post planting, and the precision planting technique ensures even field coverage for continued high yields and strong long-term profits.

“Now is the time for arable farmers to decide on their planting options for next spring – and with price volatility continuing to plague the combinable crops market, miscanthus has emerged as the secure, future-proof contender. Thanks to falling establishment costs, the guaranteed returns offered by Terravesta, and expanding market demand that is still outstripping supply, it’s clear that those planting miscanthus in 2015 will be reaping the rewards for many years to come.”

The perennial energy crop miscanthus only needs to be planted once, but will continue to deliver guaranteed, low-input returns for 20 years or more. The crop is low-maintenance and thrives in a variety of weather conditions and soil types (including marginal land).
