Zetor: Forterra range extended to 150hp

Zetor is expanding its tractor offering by adding the new Forterra HD that includes models with up to 150hp. The new tractor also brings a number of other enhancements that build on the innovative technological solutions of the Forterra HSX model and push the brand forward in terms of performance and safety, as well as comfort.

The main new technical feature of the Forterra HD is a wider wheelbase that has been increased by 130mm (compared to the wheelbase of the Forterra HSX) taking it up to 2,720mm. This provides even better tractor stability than before.

The tractor’s engine, which remains a 4.16-litre four-cylinder turbocharged unit, has also undergone significant modernisation whereby the cylinder head has been modified to include four-valve technology. The engine also stands out with its high level of torque rise at 35%, excellent startability – even in unfavourable temperature conditions – and a long service life of up to 8,000 engine hours.

Great attention of detail has been paid to conducting research into noise and vibrations for the new Forterra HD. This led to the development of constructional solutions allowing for noise levels at the 76dB(a) limit to be achieved. The tractor cab has also been enhanced to include new flooring that has considerably reduced the transmission of noise and vibrations inside the driver’s work area.

“Our goal is to consistently increase the tangible value of Zetor tractors, and the new Forterra HD model is one of the projects illustrating this,” the company’s project management manager, David Kollhammer, said. “It doesn’t merely rank as the bigger brother to the existing Zetor Forterra HSX model, but also a completely independent model in our offer.

“By including this model, we have also been able to expand our offer in terms of performance since the Forterra HD will also be available in the 150hp category.”

Launched at Zetor’s home agricultural show, Techagro at Brno, in early april, there are three models of the Forterra HD planned. The first two, the 130 with 127hp and the 140 with 136hp, are likely to go into production in the middle of 2014, with the 147hp 150 model due to follow later.

Other features of the new Forterra HD include a 30-forward/30-reverse powershift transmission with power shuttle and Bosch electronic hydraulics with a acapacity of 8,500kg. An 85 lit/min hydraulic pump is standard, with an optional 120 lit/min unit also available. This feeds into up to four spoolvalves at the rear of the tractor and up to two at the front linkage.

The Forterra HD also comes with a new PTO clutch that has a feedback-controlled start-up for the smooth application of power, and the tractor has also been fitted with a reinforced with axle housing and a stronger axle so it’s capable of carrying larger equipment on the three-point linkage. Cab suspension and a front-axle suspension are also available as optional extras.
