McConnel: Bigger flail mowers offer greater performance

Two new high-performance flail mowers offering an 8.0m working width, robust build quality and outstanding productivity are now available from McConnel.

Designed for large-scale farmers and contractors, the new machines make light work of even the toughest vegetation, delivering a superb finish, and tackling up to 6ha/hr.

Featuring three-point linkage-mounting, the Magnum Duplex is a hydraulically folding rear-mounted double mower that serves as a perfect complement to a front-mounted machine.

The Magnum Triplex, meanwhile, is a trailed machine and is ideal for tractors without a front PTO, offering instead a third rear-mounted flail mower. It’s one of biggest and best performing machines on the market, and offers exceptional flexibility with the third mower detachable for use on its own.

Key features of the new machines include:

  • Up to 7.9m working width.
  • Hydraulic folding for compact transport.
  • Heavy-duty hammer flails fitted as standard for outstanding mulching.
  • Capable of shredding vegetation up to 60mm thick.
  • +/-15 degrees of movement on outer wing decks for excellent contour following.
  • Heavy-duty gearboxes with overrun clutch protection.
  • Automatic drive-tensioning system.
  • Height adjustable rear rollers and replaceable skids.
  • Double-skinned flail decks and heavy-duty chassis.
  • Energy efficient distribution of flails in double-helix formation.
  • Flail mulcher can be demounted and used as a conventional single flail.

Prices: Duplex, £23,000; Triplex, £37,800 (correct at April 2014).
