Gaspardo: Trailed eight-row folding maize drill makes lighter work for small tractors

A new trailed Gaspardo precision drill that has been introduced into the UK by Opico is ideal for smaller tractors.
The new Marisa is an eight-row drill with a hopper capable of carrying 1,600 litres of bulk fertiliser. It has four land wheels that spread the weight of the drill as it turns on headlands, and its split-drive ensures good seed rate control is maintained around bends in a field.
The Marisa is available with or without microgranule applicators, and has a transport width of 3m – the outer two rows folding to the front of the drill.
The Marisa is fitted with an MTR heavy-duty vacuum seed unit that includes very large opening discs. This feature is key to the machine’s accuracy and consistency, maintained even at high speeds. Its cast-iron parallelogram “Arm Strong” linkage makes it suitable for cultivated or minimum-tilled soils.
Opico is running a demonstration fleet of Gaspardo precision drills this season, including the Marisa.
The trailed Marisa precision drill costs £62,041 with micro-granular applicators, or £58,777 without (price correct at March 2014).
