Deutz-Fahr presented its new 5C Series tractors from 90-120hp at Agritechnica 2013. Derived from the high-performance 5 Series, the new models are characterised by being offered in a wide number of machine configurations, high productivity – especially with equipment such as front loaders – and great overall performance.
In terms of style the 5C Series cab, which has been designed to integrate perfectly with the tractor, offers an ergonomic and user-friendly panel in which all controls are grouped by function and arranged by frequency of use, as well as a comfortable driving position.
The 5C’s are powered by a Deutz four-cylinder common-rail engine with electronic control – a powerful and robust engine capable of delivering 95 per cent of maximum power at 1,700rpm. The external and liquid-cooled gas recirculation system, combined with the diesel oxidation catalyst catalytic converter, reduces particulate and NOx levels to conform to Stage IIIB levels.
The new series offers a wide choice in configuring the characteristics of the tractor in order to identify and provide the most effective combination to meet individual needs. In the LS version, for example, it’s possible to choose between a mechanical 10×10 gearbox or the Hi-Lo 20×20 transmission used with a mechanical shuttle. The 20×20 Hi-Lo transmission is also available in the GS version together with the advanced three-stage 30×30 transmission, while both versions have the Sense Clutch hydraulic reverse shuttle.
All transmission variants are available with underdrive and supercreeper gears, making it possible to double the number of speeds in both forward and reverse up to 60×60.
In the GS version, the hydraulic reverse shuttle offers the Stop&Go function, allowing the driver to stop the tractor and set off again simply by using the brakes, without needig to touch the clutch pedal. This is an extremely helpful feature when working with a loader, when hitching implements or for starts on uphill gradients.
The Deutz-Fahr 5C tractors also have the innovative Steering Double Displacement steering system that allows maximum steering with half the number of turns of the steering wheel and makes repetitive tasks such as the turning at the end of the field or manoeuvres with the front loader easier and safer.
Offering progressive speed control and a top speed of 40km/hr (reached with the engine at economy speed), these transmissions keep the tractor working with the ideal ratio for any application. A wide selection of PTO speeds offers two or four speeds (540/540 Eco and 540/540 Eco/1,000/1,000 Eco rpm), PTO synchronised with independent output shaft and front PTO. An automatic PTO, which engages and disengages when the implement is lowered and lifted, is also available.
Various choices are also available for the hydraulic system: 55 litres or 60 litres Eco with double pump, capable of delivering the maximum flow rate at 1,600rpm. The electronically controlled rear lift is also extremely innovative, allowing the driver to control implements with extreme precision. Lift capacity is between 3,565kg and 5,410kg depending on the model.
In terms of operational safety, the 5Cs are at the highest level. Effective stopping power is ensured through use of an integral hydraulic brake system with independent wet discs on all four wheels. All models with hydraulic reverse shuttle are also available with Deutz-Fahr’s innovative ParkBrake system.
