Slurry handling specialist Storth Machinery has introduced a second and simpler, lower-cost system for converting livestock manure into soft dry bedding material.
The Eco-Bedder consists of a separator that removes the liquid fraction of the slurry to produce a material with a 37-40 per cent dry matter content, leaving it dry enough to be used as cattle bedding.
Animal manures and slurry, as well as sawdust or straw, can be fed into the Eco-Bedder, although it’s not suitable for sand-based slurries.
The Eco-Bedder is a simpler, lower-cost version of Storth’s existing EYS Bedding Composter that incorporates a heavy-duty screw-press separator and a drying and pasteurisation system.
The Eco-Bedder is available in two sizes: the SP600HD is suitable for up to 400 cows and retails at £24,000+VAT, while the SP800HD is suitable for up to 1,000 cows and retails for £27,500+VAT (prices as of October 2013).
