Blaney Agri: Bale shredder saves time and money

The Blaney Agri Bale Shredder has been designed to save time and money while feeding and bedding livestock, which are typically labour-intensive jobs.
The machine’s large-diameter rotor serves for faster bale throughput to get each task done as quickly and efficiently as possible, shredding a bale for feeding or bedding in as little as two minutes, making it the fastest round bale shredder available.
The Blaney Bale Shredder can chop bales up to five times faster than a diet feeder. This has been achieved by maximising material flow within the drum and rotor, through extensive computer-aided simulation and on-farm testing.
Now, thanks to the option of the innovative self-loading system, the machine can lift and load a bale all at the push of a lever. It can deal with 4ft and 5ft bales up to 900kg. All you have to do is remove the plastic and netting.
An optional bale loader is available that consists of clamping arms at the rear of the Bale Shredder. These close in around the bale to lift it and load it securely into the Bale Shredder drum.
If you’re concerned about the weight involved if working with heavy bales, you can consider the trailed kit for the machine. This innovative design allows full tilt while maintaining good ground clearance and low centre of gravity.
The Bale Shredder has been designed and developed specifically to shred silage bales, which are much more difficult to work with than straw bales, given their weight, density, moisture content and often uneven shape. Chopped silage bales have proven popular with sheep farmers since they are more easily digested.
This Bale Shredder serves as a multipurpose machine with more capabilities for feeding livestock, not only along passageways, but also over the fence or gate into feed trailers and troughs for outwintered stock.
The Bale Shredder also takes the hassle out of bedding and can be used in cubicles or large pens.  Discharge chutes include one for feeding and one for bedding. A third option of a top rotary 270-degree giraffe chute is ideal for high level discharge.
An innovative fan design maintains air pressure that ensures maximum flow of straw over large distances for an even spread of straw. Straw used for bedding can be cut by almost 50 per cent through the use of this machine.
Basic models of the Bale Shredder start at £6,500, with the optional bale loader at £1,999 (prices correct at October 2013). A trailed kit for use with lower HP tractors is available as an option, and a drum extension is available to allow for two round bales of straw or one large square bale to be loaded.
