Massey Ferguson has introduced three new, four-cylinder 5600 Series models that have been purpose-built to deliver exactly the right specifications for the 110-130hp sector.
Designed to provide uncompromising performance in the field and on the road, their manoeuvrability and visibility makes them unrivalled loader tractors. In fact, loader-ready models come supplied with a factory-fitted sub-frame, as well as a wide range of novel features and controls to ease and enhance operation.
Powered by the latest Agco power four-cylinder engines, the new MF 5600 tractors – 5611, 105hp rated (110hp max); 5612, 115hp (120hp); and 5613, 125hp (130hp) – are built on a new 2.55m wheelbase chassis – equipped with specifically designed Dyna-4 or Dyna-6 transmissions. There’s also a choice of Essential or Efficient cab specifications as well as a completely new exclusive front-axle suspension option, designed and manufactured by Massey Ferguson.
With maximum (ISO) powers of 110hp, 120hp and 130hp and weighing 4.8t, the new Massey Ferguson MF 5600 Series four-cylinder models offer a distinct specification choice and are developed specifically to meet all customers’ requirements in this important power sector. The engine powers of all the new tractors also overlap with three models in the MF 6600 Series, to provide further choice.
“The new MF 5600 Series are purpose built for this power sector and application, offering uncompromising quality, specification and performance,” Massey Ferguson brand development manager Campbell Scott said. “The 110-130hp bracket is expanding rapidly and is very important; customers need, and expect, a tractor with the specifications the MF 5600 Series offers.
“They shouldn’t have to be forced to compromise using older, outdated models that stretch the top-end of the light-duty sector, or employ heavy and cumbersome tractors from the bottom of more powerful ranges. The MF 5600 Series sets a new standard, offering specifications seldom found elsewhere in this sector.”
The new MF 5611, MF 5612 and MF 5613 will replace the existing four-cylinder MF 5445, MF 5455 and MF 5460, as well as the MF 6445 and MF 6455. Set for launch at Agritechnica 2013, they will become available during 2014.
The 5600 Series tractors are powered by a new four-cylinder, 4.4-litre Agco Power engine. This advanced, electronically controlled engine uses common-rail fuel injection combined with high airflow through four valves/cylinder to efficiently manage the combustion process for optimum power and economy.
The clever design means it requires just the addition of a maintenance-free diesel oxidation catalyst to the second-generation selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system to meet the strict Stage IIIB emission regulations. This provides the enormous benefit of being able to fit a steep nose bonnet for unrivalled visibility on all models because, unlike other systems, SCR doesn’t require a large cooling package.
A novel automatic system cuts the low idle speed to 720rpm from a working speed of 850rpm when the Power Control lever is put into neutral and the hand brake is applied. This helps save fuel, because evidence from AgCommand telemetry shows a high proportion on tractors spend up to 12-30% of their working time with their engines idling. Overall economy is further improved by the long, 500-hour service intervals.
Massey Ferguson has developed new versions of the renowned Dyna-4 and Dyna-6 transmissions that are designed specifically for the more powerful new four-cylinder tractors. Both deliver completely clutchless operation via the left-hand Power Control or right-hand armrest levers and loader joystick controls (when specified).
A novel brake-activated transmission to neutral feature is standard on both transmissions. As soon as the brake is pressed it simultaneously operates the clutch. This eases the load on the operator, while increasing efficiency and convenience, particularly in loader operations.
Dyna-4 is a highly efficient transmission that offers 16 forward and 16 reverse speeds with four Dynashift (powershift) speeds in four ranges. Electro-hydraulic control also provides clutchless range changes.
The new MF 5600 Series is now also available with Dyna-6 for the first time. This rugged and well-proven transmission offers clutchless changing of six Dynashift speeds in four ranges to provide 24 forward and 24 reverse speeds.
AutoDrive is standard on Efficient specification tractors, an option on Essential versions and available for both Dyna-4 and Dyna-6. In ‘Hare’ AutoDrive automatically changes both Dynashift speeds and ranges (in Pedal Mode), automatically changing Dynashift speeds simply by adjusting the throttle pedal. In the ‘Tortoise’ setting the system automatically changes the Dynashift within the ranges. Creep and Supercreep speeds are available as options on both.
Massey Ferguson has developed and built its own exclusive front-axle suspension system, which is fully integrated into the design of the tractor and available as an option on all the new MF 5600 Series tractors.
This compact system uses a suspension arm mounted between a special cast engine oil sump and specific, new front axle support with electro-hydraulic control. The simple design maximises ground clearance, turning angle and full angle of oscillation, which deliver superb ride comfort. Simple maintenance is ensured by just four grease points on the whole unit.
The front axle suspension does not interfere with the fitting of a front linkage or loader – and all three can be mounted at the same time.
Efficient loader operation is a high design priority and the new MF 5600 Series tractors come with a unique choice of three systems that offer high flowrates and comprehensive control.
As standard all models are equipped with an efficient twin-pump system that delivers 58 lit/min for the spool valves and linkage, with a separate pump for all internal services. For those requiring extra flow – to boost loader performance – there’s also a new 100 lit/min combined-flow system. This automatically combines the flow from the 58 lit/min linkage pump along with 42 lit/min from an additional high-pressure pump, which provides greater flow for the loader.
A 110 lit/min closed-centre load-sensing (CCLS) system is an option on Efficient specification models with the Dyna-6 transmission, delivering flow and pressure on demand for optimum output, control and economy. This comes with fingertip spool valve controls or electronic joystick.
The MF 5600 Series offers the same cab comfort as the larger MF 7600 Series and MF 6600 Series tractors. The spacious, comfortable and quiet (71dBA) cab has a curved front screen, unmatched visibility across the steep nosed bonnet and a superb control system. All models are available in two cab positions and can be specified with a Slimline, Visio or Standard roof, which provide a range of overall heights for unparalleled access to low buildings.
OptiRide mechanical cab suspension is an option across the range and all models are available with either Essential of Efficient specifications to suit the work and budget. Essential specification tractors are equipped with a console on the right-hand side containing the transmission T-handle control as well as all the main levers and frequently used switches and controls. Standard features include mechanical spool valves, lockable spool valves and Electronic Linkage Control.
An optional mechanical joystick, for tractors with Open-Centre hydraulics, not only controls the loader functions, but also changes direction as well as buttons to increase or decrease transmission ratios. Essential tractors specified with the 100 lit/min combined flow system specified as loader ready are equipped with a joystick, which includes the transmission controls.
Efficient specification is available for all new MF 5600 Series tractors and comes with OptiRide mechanical cab suspension as standard, along with: AutoDrive, Control Armrest with T-handle transmission lever, two electronic ‘fingertip’ spool valves and third and fourth lockable mechanical spool valves.
Loader-ready tractors are specified with an electronic Multi-function joystick option, which is integrated into the Armrest console. As well as operating the loader this also has a button to change gear ratios, declutch button and forward/reverse shuttle control as well as third and fourth loader functions.
The MF 5600 Series designed with front-end loader work as a high priority and tractors ordered as loader-ready come with a range of unrivalled factory-fitted features and only require the fitting of loader beams and implements.
The loader-ready from factory option includes a fully integrated loader sub-frame, pre-installed metal pipework to a dedicated mid-mounted spool valve chest, as well as pipes leading to the spool valves mounted on the loader bracket. There is also a choice of electronic or mechanical joysticks.
The electronic joystick option also includes additional, clever loader functions, which are set on the dashboard dot matrix display screen. These include activation of the speed and action of the novel loader shaker function as well as the pre-set engine speed, which changes automatically when the joystick is moved.
The screen also provides lock/unlock of the attachment pins, hydraulic flow rate setting, loader suspension on/off, the transmission to neutral with brake as well as selecting the method of operation of the the third and fourth loader functions.
