The Solar Building Company Ltd (SBC) has launched PVOverRoof Series 2, its new–generation mounting solution for putting photovoltaic (PV) panels on fibre cement roofs. The use of hanger bolts was effectively banned in February 2013, but the PVOverRoof Series 2 offers a completely secure solution for mounting the panels.
“We developed the original system some two years ago and in that time have deployed in excess of 5MW of the
PVOverRoof, mostly on barns,” SBC’s technical director Clive Weatherby said. “PVOverRoof Series 2 is a logical progression with a more modular–based system suitable for all module types using a refined bespoke aluminium extrusion which allows quick installation.”
An installation utilising PVOverRoof Series 2 is cost comparable to the hanger bolt solution. A
key benefit with PVOverRoof is maintaining roof sheet warranty as PVOverRoof is endorsed by major
roof sheet manufacturers Marley and Eternit. The system also comes with a 25–year performance guarantee
against leaks.
PVOverRoof also allows mounting of PV panels onto building roofs where roof sheeting or purlin strength doesn’t
allow direct loading by the PV support structure.
