McCormick: New generation X7 tractors on show

McCormick launched its new X7 tractors at Sima 2013.

McCormick’s focus at Sima 2013 was on the brand’s new X7 Series tractors that include models from 143-212hp. The new range comprises six models: three with four-cylinder structural engines and three with six-cylinder engines and chassis frames.
The new tractors feature Beta Power engines that meet Stage IIIB emissions regulations. Other features include the Pro Drive transmission with four powershift gears in six ranges. Autoshift is available for all four speeds in the six ranges with sequential range shifting. The tractors also featureload-Sensing closed-circuit hydraulics with a 123 lit/min flow rate across the range, and also have an electronically controlled rear linkage with a 9,300kg lift capacity for both the four-cylinder and six-cylinder models.
A four-speed electro-hydraulically controlled rear PTO is standard equipment on all models, while an electronically controlled front PTO and front linkage with 3,500kg lifting capacity are available as an option.

More than anything else, however, it’s the new Premiere Cab that raises the quality standard of the new X7 Series to the greatest extent. Designed in conjunction with a major automobile design studio, the comfort levels of the new cab are close to that provided by the car industry. With four pillars and a generously sized interior, it also boasts excellent visibility.
The new-style doors have reinforced hinges and a closing mechanism coming from automotive experience. This concept is repeated inside the cab where materials reminiscent of automobile interiors make everything cosy and LED light fittings improve the lighting efficiency and add to the modern feeling.

The X7’s controls are arranged in a rational layout, while other characteristics include a tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, a new integrated instrument panel and a new multi-function armrest with, among other functions, a programmable switch. There’s also windscreen wiper and light controls on the steering wheel, an automatic turn-indicator self-cancelling function. A new patented system for retracting the passenger seat makes it easier to get in and out of the tractor.

Cab options include electric and heated rear-view mirrors, as well as a driver’s seat with a ventilated and heated backrest, and air conditioned glove compartment.
