The 6600 Series from Massey Ferguson includes the highest–power four-cylinder tractor on the market. The flagship 6616 with Dyna-6 transmission and Engine Power Management (EPM) has a maximum power output of 185hp from its Agco Power engine.
The MF 6600 Series offers users the power, torque and operating benefits associated with a six-cylinder tractor in a four-cylinder compact and extremely agile tractor with a great power to weight ratio. Fitting in between the MF 5600 Series and the awarding winning MF 7600s, it offers a high level of standard specification with a wide choice of transmissions, hydraulic systems and cab comfort to suit farmers’ specific requirements.
As well as sharing a similar size and style of cab as the MF 7600 Series, the MF 6600s are available with Dyna-4, Dyna-6 or Dyna-VT transmissions and in Essential, Efficient or Exclusive cab specifications. Together these provide 10 different model variants.
The MF 6600 Series tractors all benefit from Agco Power’s pioneering four-cylinder, 4.9-litre engines. With EPM these are capable of developing maximum powers of 135-185hp. With the MF 6600 Series Massey Ferguson has created a completely new class of 150hp+ four-cylinder tractors.
The large displacement, four-valve/cylinder common-rail engines generate uncompromising torque of 677Nm and up to 790Nm with EPM, allowing users to benefit from superb operating efficiency and excellent economy. Maximum power is generated at a low 2,200rpm, which saves fuel and cuts noise.
The MF 6600 meets the Stage 3B emissions standards using Generation 2 selective catalytic ceduction technology. This advanced system includes a maintenance-free diesel oxidation catalyst that helps improve efficiency resulting in lower fuel and AdBlue consumption. The slim, oval-shaped exhaust stack with integrated catalysts and slip cats further treat the exhaust.
The immensely capable four-cylinder engine allows the MF 6600 Series to introduce a new concept in tractor design that offers excellent manoeuvrability from its short overall length with a long, 2.67m wheelbase for great stability and traction.
Offering excellent power to weight ratios, the light and nimble MF 6600 Series is the perfect all-rounder with EPM automatically boosting output (except on Dyna-VT models) when it’s most needed. The clever design means the tractors will excel in all situations, capable of carrying out heavy cultivations, while offering excellent manoeuvrability in the yard and with a loader as well as delivering the power needed for demanding transport duties.
A new front axle support casting allows for fitting the fully integrated 3.2t capacity front linkage and PTO, front suspension option and loader. This neat, compact unit reduces overall length for close coupling of implements and allows the linkage and loader to be fitted at the same time. To ease turning on the headland there’s the useful SpeedSteer option that reduces the number of steering wheel revolutions needed to turn the front wheels from lock-to-lock.
The MF 6600 Series is available with a choice of Massey Ferguson’s leading transmission technology. Dyna-VT – available for the MF 6614 (140hp max), MF 6615 (150hp max) and MF 6616 (160hp max) – is a continuously variable transmission that offers precise control of the forward speed while minimising the engine rpm, which ensures the tractor always operates at optimum economy and efficiency. The standard Dynamic Tractor Management (Dyna-TM) system automatically adjusts the engine speed according to load.
Dyna-6 ECO – available for the MF 6613 (150hp max), MF 6614 (165hp max), MF 6615 (175hp max) and MF 6616 (185hp max) – is a well-proven, rugged and refined transmission that offers completely clutchless operation via the left-hand Power Control or right-hand armrest levers. This provides a total of 24 speeds, with six Dynashift steps in four gears.
Dyna-4 – for MF 6612 (135hp max), MF 6613 (145hp max) and MF 6615 (175hp max) models – is a highly efficient transmission offering 16 forward and 16 reverse gears with completely clutchless operation after starting off.
A practical brake-activated transmission to neutral feature is standard on tractors with Dyna-4 and Dyna-6 transmissions. As soon as the brake is pressed it disengages the clutch and when released re-engages drive and is particularly useful for loader operations.
Also new from Massey Ferguson, for the first time, is the option of AutoDrive on both Dyna-4 and Dyna-6. In the ‘Hare’ setting AutoDrive automatically changes both Dynashift speeds and ranges, allowing 16 speeds to change automatically, simply by adjusting the throttle pedal. For fieldwork – in the ‘Tortoise setting’ – the system automatically changes the speeds within the ranges.
MF 6600 Series operators benefit from cab comfort developed for the larger MF 7600 Series. This spacious, quiet environment features a curved front screen, superb visibility and a host of useful, well laid-out controls.
The quiet cab boasts noise levels down to 71dBa. Inside there is a new dashboard and fully adjustable steering column with a new seat, which swivels to provide extra legroom and comfort when looking backwards. A new layout on the right pillar panel clusters together many commonly used switches.
Two types of cab suspension are available for all models: there’s a mechanical system or the hydraulic OptiRide Plus system that further enhances comfort by allowing operators to adjust the level of damping.
With the MF 6600 Series Massey Ferguson is following the successful specification choice it introduced on the more powerful MF 7600s that provides a range of control layout and joysticks, depending on model and specification. On the Exclusive specification tractors with Dyna-6 and Dyna-VT transmissions the armrest has a Multipad joystick. This enables a number of functions to be controlled with the right hand, for example reverse shuttle and linkage and spool valve controls.
On the Efficient specification models, meanwhile, the armrest contains the familiar Massey Ferguson ‘T’ handle. On both armrests it’s possible to have an additional electronic joystick that is ideal for loader operation and also contains reverse shuttle and speed change functions.
All models in the MF 6600 Series equipped with Dyna-4 or Dyna-6 transmissions are available in Essential specification. These tractors have a console on the right-hand side containing all the main levers and frequently used switches and controls. These are also available with a new mechanical joystick to ease loader operation.
A new combined-flow hydraulic system, offering flowrates up to 100 lit/min at 200 bar, is available for MF 6600 Series Essential version models with Dyna-4 and Dyna-6 transmissions. This combines the flow from the pumps to provide plenty of output for fast loader operations with new automation providing more convenient operation.
Alternatively, a closed-centre, load-sensing system delivers 110 lit/min, also on demand. This is standard on tractors with Efficient and Exclusive specifications and an option on the Essential models.
All Efficient and Exclusive specification MF 6600 Series tractors come ready for fitting the new optional AutoGuide 3000 automatic guidance system that uses the Datatronic screen to operate guidance without the need for a separate terminal.
For those requiring a fully-featured touchscreen full-colour monitor, the addition of a C3000 monitor is available for AutoGuide operation. Its many features include mapping, field data management and Isobus capability. This can be used alongside the Datatronic 4 screen.
AutoGuide 3000 also employs the neat new Topdoc receiver that capable of receiving signals from GPS, Glonass and Gallieo satellites to improve positioning reliability. The new receiver is fully upgradable with snap-in modules to provide sub-metre, decimetre or centimetre RTK accuracy depending on differential signal.
The tractors are also Agcommand-ready and easily fitted with full telemetry, allowing users and owners to view wide range of information in near real time via a secure webpage. A new free app, available from the Apple Store, allows mobile access to fleet status, history and efficiency reports from a smartphone.
