Deutz-Fahr has introduced the new Series 5 tractor range which is available with a choice of conventional transmission, three-stage Powershift or continuously variable TTV transmission. The six-model range features tractors from 100-130hp that feture new Deutz engines designed to ensure superior performance in terms of power and torque delivery, without compromising fuel consumption or reliability.
Diesel oxidation catalyst exhaust after treatment, water-cooled engine gas recirculation, 1,600-bar common–rail fuel injection and a displacement of 3.62 litres ensure the Series 5 tractors conform to Euro Stage IIIB emission standards.
The new Deutz-Fahr range has been designed to meet the needs of modern farming businesses, from open field to yard work with a front loader, from livestock farming to road transport with a top speed of 50km/hr (40km/hr at economy engine speed), as well as specialised applications such as forestry and municipal work.
Series 5 tractors can be specified with one of three transmissions: a mechanical 10-Forward/10-reverse; a three-stage Powershift for models from 100hp to 120hp; and the continuously variable TTV, that offers an infinite number of ratios, for models from 110hp to 130hp. All the transmissions are equipped with the Sense Clutch hydraulic forward/reverse shuttle with sensitivity control.
The standard 90 lit/min hydraulic system employs a tandem pump on the Series 5 and offers a level of performance comparable to that of a higher–power tractor. The system powers up to five remote valves with electro-hydraulic control. Hydraulic options include two 60 lit/min systems: a single–pump system and the 60 Eco tandem pump system.
The innovative 60 Eco system is capable of delivering a maximum oil flow rate of 60 lit/min at an engine speed of just 1,600rpm. The second pump is activated when required from a push button in the cab. This system comes into its own for operations that require plenty of hydraulic power even at low revs, such as a front loader.
The rear linkage has a lift capacity of 6,600kg, and when combined with the fully-integrated front linkage is ideal for applications requiring the combined use of front and rear implements.
For all models and versions, there‘s the option of a steering double displacement (SDD) pump that, at the press of a push button on the instrument panel, halves the amount of time required for headland manoeuvres by halving the number of turns required to turn the steering wheel to reach full lock.
For the new Series 5’s styling Deutz-Fahr has continued to work in partnership with Giugiaro Design, which has created an innovative, appealing look, with details, such as the LED headlights, that are usually only found in the automotive sector. The aesthetic styling of the bodywork and the rear light clusters work well with the new Class E cab.
Special attention has been given to the ergonomic design of the cab interior, the all-important working environment of the operator. The layout of the controls, which are colour coded for immediate identification, helps the operator to work more efficiently.
Comfort and safety is also ensured by a new front axle with hydraulic suspension, a choice of two cab suspension systems (mechanical or pneumatic), Deutz-Fahr’s Stop&Go system (Powershift versions), the Power Zero function (TTV versions), PowerBrake servo-assisted brakes and the ParkBrake.
