Terravesta: Meetings showcase miscanthus opportunities

Energy crop processor Terravesta is to hosting a series of miscanthus growers’ meetings to discuss the future of the crop. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet face-to-face with the experts from Terravesta, share any specific queries and benefit from professional advice on all aspects of successful miscanthus growing and harvesting.
The growers’ meetings will take place in December at four different locations across the country:

  • December 4: York
  • December 6: Bradford-on-Avon
  • December 11: Peterborough
  • December 13: Uttoxeter

“As a miscanthus grower myself, having first planted in the 2006/7 season, I know the value of meeting other growers and sharing information about the day-to-day of miscanthus growing,” Terravesta chairmanWilliam Cracroft-Eley said. “We are urging existing growers and those considering planting to come along to our meetings this December and talk about what miscanthus can do for them – now and in the years to come.”
In addition to presentations from existing growers sharing best practice, the events will provide background context on the growth of the current UK miscanthus market. The programme for each half-day session will also explore the results of the 2012 season and look forward at prospects and pricing for 2013.
“At Terravesta we know miscanthus has a great future in the UK as an energy crop,” Mr Cracroft-Eley added. “We’ve seen a strong 2012 and are looking forward to even further market growth in 2013 – especially given the huge potential the crop has as a biomass resource and the high demand for miscanthus in a variety of formats from power generators.
“With this in mind, we’re keen to encourage longer-term relationships with growers. We have 10-year index-linked (RPIX) contracts that offer a very attractive and guaranteed return. There has never been a better time to be involved in miscanthus supply.”
