Pöttinger has announced that it will buy the Irish firm that distributes the company’s machinery throughout the island of Ireland. The family-owned Austrian company will take over Traynors of Clonmel, its importer since 1987.
Pöttinger bought a one-third stake in T. Traynor & Sons Ltd, which is based at Clonmel, County Tipperary, in 1997. It has now taken up the opportunity to by the rest of the business.
“Originally our strategy was not to serve classic importer markets with our own sales organisation,” commercial managing director Heinz Pöttinger said. “But we are pleased to take this opportunity with the objective of getting even closer to our dealers and customers in order to offer them the best possible technical solutions for their market-specific requirements.”
“At the moment it is loader wagons, mowers and power harrows that bring the most turnover in Ireland,” technical managing director Klaus Pöttinger added. “We can look back on a long period of good work together with Traynors, but now we want to be even more successful with direct sales here.”
The experienced team at Traynors will continue to support local dealers, with some management tasks taken over by Pöttinger’s headquarters at Grieskirchen in Austria.
