Recently formed John Deere dealership Tallis Amos Group Limited has been appointed as the manufacturer’s new agricultural dealer for the Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire area in South-west Wales.
The move follows LAS Agric Ltd’s decision to cease trading in mid-July 2012, after which Deloitte LLP in Cardiff was appointed to liquidate the business. The Tallis Amos Group has taken over part of the former LAS Agric depot at Narberth, Dyfed, and most of the previous dealership’s key staff have been retained to provide full continuity of sales and service to customers in the area under the leadership of new branch manager Matthew Blackburn. The new dealership will trade under the Tallis Amos Group name.
“I am delighted that the Tallis Amos Group has agreed to take on this area and bring their combination of experience and expertise to this part of Wales,” former LAS AGric salesman Mr Blackburn said. “It will allow us to grow the business and concentrate on delivering unrivalled parts and service support to all our customers.”
The Tallis Amos Group is owned by the Tallis and Amos families, with managing director Ben Tallis, who is based at Chris Tallis Farm Machinery Ltd’s Evesham head office, and sales director Simon Amos, based at Alexander & Duncan Limited in Leominster, running the company as partners.
“As a strong family business, we firmly believe the Tallis Amos Group is the right long-term partner for John Deere customers in the Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire area,” John Deere Limited division sales manager Paul Leathem said. “Both families have a long history with Deere, a great deal of experience and a reputation among its customers for consistently delivering the highest levels of after-sales support.”
The Tallis Amos Group curently trades as Chris Tallis at Evesham, Bibury and Dursley in Worcestershire and Gloucestershire, and Alexander & Duncan at Leominster in Herefordshire. It also operates the turf dealer Parks & Grounds Machinery in Warwickshire.
LAS Agric was appointed a John Deere dealer in 1989 when the business was run by John Saunders, with his son Robin taking over as managing director on John’s death in 1995. Sadly, Robin died suddenly in 2005 at the age of just 49. Robin’s wife Susan, who had joined the business as a director in 2000, then took over as managing director and remained in control until the business ceased trading.
