Czech tractor maker Zetor has unveiled a new, high-spec version of its Forterra tractor range. The HSX models still only offer up to 136hp, but feature a number of new features and enhancements.
To be launched at TechAgro 2012 in the company’s home town of Brno at the end of March, the range features five new HSX models in total: 100, 86hp (419Nm); 110, 107hp (440Nm); 120, 117hp (482Nm); 130, 126hp (540Nm); and 140, 136hp (572Nm). All feature a new 4.16-litre turbocharged Zetor engine that has a modified cylinder head with hydraulic 16 valves, a new fuel injection system and is also equipped with a particulate filter to help it meet the Stage 3B emissions standard. A new 225-litre fuel tank is sufficient for all day work.
The new Forterra HSX offers many technological innovations that ensure higher performance, comfort and safety. The HSX name comes from the tractor’s new electro-hydraulic power shuttle reverse gear that makes tractor control much easier. This is combined with a new five-speed synchronized gearbox and a three-stage automatic torque multiplier that means there are 30 gears available in both forward and reverse.
Another innovation is Zetor’s patented revolutionary automatic HitchTronic rear three-point linkage suspension control that allows the tractor to adapt to any terrain in draught work. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced driver, the system is claimed to make three-point linkage work much easier and efficient.
Two external auxiliary hydraulic cylinders ensure uniform load distribution on the tractor and have increased the lift capacity from 5,800kg on the standard Forterra to 7,000kg on the HSX.
The new Zetor HitchTronic three-point linkage gives the Forterra HSX a lift capacity of 7,000kg. |
The new tractor is 10cm longer than the standard Forterra at 4,770mm. The wheelbase is also 10cm longer at 2,490mm meaning the Forterra HSX is more stable and safer.
Three standards of cab are available with the Basic, Classic and Lux options. All three feature a new dashboard with an LCD display that shows information for operation and servicing in a more user-friendly and clearly structured format. The mounting of the cab on silent blocks and use of combined flooring has also greatly reduced transmission of noise and vibrations to the driver’s cabin. New transmission controls, meanwhile, make gear shifting easier.
In addition, the Basic cab features a Mars seat, passenger seat, fixed steering wheel, rear working lights; the Classic cab adds a Grammer seat, adjustable steering wheel, front and rear working lights, heated back mirrors and rear window, audio installation; and the Lux cab brings a Grammer air seat, air-conditioning and a radio.
Production of the new Forterra HSX is due to begin in June this year.
