Massey Ferguson’s latest MF 900 Series front-end loaders combine robust construction and simple operation with the advanced new Loader Control System (LCS). This new generation of tractor loaders build on the success of previous models’ strong reputation for performance and ease of use.
The wide range provides plenty of choice – including six standard models and 13 with parallel levelling linkages. This means there is a model suit every user and conceivable application. Built to the highest standard by the world’s leading loader maker, they are designed in close co-operation with Massey Ferguson engineers to ensure the loaders are ideally matched for work with the full range of Massey Ferguson tractors.
The new MF 900 Series offers high lift capacities and heights, and employs new hydraulic valves designed specifically for use with front-end loaders and a novel flat-face coupler that connects under pressure and is leak-free. Three new joysticks – Ergo, Easy and ElectroDrive – offer superb levels of control and automation.
The new generation MF 900 Series loaders are operated by a unique hydraulic control valve that is available for both load-sensing and open-centred tractor systems. It is the only valve in the industry dedicated for use with tractor loaders and uses a regenerative system that provides total control when handling heavy loads. This is because the oil flow is independent of the load so the lower and raise speeds are virtually the same whether the loader implement is full or empty.
This novel system provides operators with a much better ‘feel’ during operation, which is optimised to provide precise proportional control – with the system reacting exactly to how fast and far the operator moves the joystick. This provides much better control when operating two functions, for example when simultaneously lowering and crowding.
Another unique feature introduced on the new generation MF 900 Series is the MultiCoupler MC4. This connects all the hydraulic hoses under pressure, as well as the electric cables, in one simple movement of a single handle. The flat-face system is not only leak-free in operation, it’s also very easy to keep clean, which prevents dirt contaminating not only the coupler but also the tractor hydraulics. The connector is stored neatly on the loader with a standard dust cover keeping out the dirt when it’s not in use.

The MF 900 Series new-generation loaders come with a choice of three new joysticks that all offer high levels of control and enable users to select the level of sophistication they require to suit their application and budgets. These new LCS joysticks deliver a range of important new developments in one system that provide operators with a completely new level of control, comfort, efficiency and safety.
ErgoDrive is a simple, cable-operated single lever control that combines easy operation with additional high-level features including a new float function that is available for both position and dump. This improves the quality of grading and scraping work, in which only the weight of the implement is on the surface. Also easing control is a new ‘stroke’ lever that lightens the ‘touch’ and increases the comfort for the operator.
With the new EasyDrive system operators benefit from the first level of electronic control, offering all the functions of the ErgoDrive but using a small thumb-controlled joystick. Now operating the loader is a comfortable finger-tip task, providing more control with less effort.
The EasyDrive joystick is an integral part of the driver’s seat, which saves space and with a flexible ‘swan neck’ mount, it is fully adjustable allowing the control to become an extension of the operator’s arm.
As well as the thumb joystick, the system also includes a small, back-lit screen along with buttons for its various functions. These now include on/off of the loader suspension, hydraulic implement locking, float position (for both dump and position), transport and pressure relief. It can also operate a third and fourth function.
ElectroDrive offers the benefits of the comfortable seat-mounted, thumb joystick controller as the EasyDrive system, but combines this with even more functions including a ‘tortoise’ mode, shake function and continuous flow through a third hydraulic function. It uses a similar back-lit screen and allows operators to set-up and store work sequences and repeat these automatically.
