Grimme UK has launched a new two-piece hydraulic folding Rota Tilla with ridging body for three-bed operations, which will be available in limited numbers for spring 2012 and will cost less than £30,000.
The RT540-2 has a 5.4m working width but easily folds to a road-legal dimensions without the operator having to leave the tractor cab. Incorporating the ridging body in the hydraulic movement makes the Rota Tilla a one-piece machine.
RT450-2 has a three-speed gearbox to the rotors, which gives the flexibility to operate in almost all soil types. Being designed with gears rather than chains improves reliability and reduces wear and tear.
An optional extra on the RT450-2 is a heavy-duty Rota that includes shear-bolt protection bodies, and is designed for tilling directly into ploughed land. This upgrade only costs £750-1,000, which makes this system a cost-effective one-pass operation.
