Massey Ferguson: New 3600 Series tractor models launched

Massey Ferguson has launched three new models in its 3600 Series with power outputs from 82-100hp. These nimble new tractors are said to deliver higher power from their responsive common-rail engines along with industry leading fuel economy.
“The MF 3600 Series has gained an enviable reputation for comfort and maneuverability, thanks to its unique design features,” MF product manager Mathieu Razy said. “Now, with the new engines, the MF 3600 Series adds best-in-class fuel economy and responsive performance to the long list of benefits it provides users.
“Further boosting output and convenience is a new generation of transmission with Powershuttle and two-speed PowerShift.”
The new common-rail engines are perfectly suited to providing top performance for the specialist tractor users’ main tasks of spraying and transport, as well as cultivations and lighter duties.
“The electronic control and fast response from the common-rail fuel system means these engines react quickly to any rpm changes,”
Mr Razy added. “The electronic throttle sets a precise engine speed and constantly adjusts the fueling to maintain the set rpm.”

A new cab gives 3600 Series users better comfort and control.

Up to five per cent more power and 13 per cent extra torque is generated by the new Agco Sisu Power engines fitted to all of the new MF 3600 Series tractors. These employ a common-rail injection system, with electronic engine management (EPM) control that ensures exactly the right amount fuel is injected at precisely the right time. This also allows the engine to react very quickly to changing loads and conditions, making it also one of the most responsive engines on the market.
Maximum power is developed at just 2,000rpm, which provides more power at the PTO and reduces fuel consumption and noise. There is constant power between 1,800rpm and 2,200rpm, which enables operators to throttle back and work at lower rpm, saving fuel and reducing the need to change gear.
A further benefit of the EPM is it provides more convenience and control with a new electronic hand throttle, plus engine speed memory. With electronics managing the engine speed, the rpm remains constant, which improves output and efficiency with PTO-powered implements and makes life easier for operators. With the engine speed memory all the operator has to do is press a small button by the throttle to memorise and recall a set speed, again improving accuracy and easing operation.
All three new 3600 Series tractors – the 82hp
MF 3640; 92hp MF 3650; and 100hp MF 3660 – are available with a new Powershuttle transmission that is also compatible with the SpeedShift two-speed PowerShift unit. Together these features provide superb control and convenience for the operator.

The 3600 Series tractors are said to be the perfect partners for loader work.

The new transmission not only has a wide range of speeds to suit every task, it is also easy to operate with push-button convenience. A new declutch button, fitted to the top of the gearlever, allows operators to change a mechanical gear, stop and pull away without having to use the clutch foot pedal. It is also the perfect partner for loader work, allowing operators to declutch with the button and shift the lever to change direction without using the foot clutch.
The Speedshift button, which sits alongside the declutch control on the gear knob, ‘splits’ each of the four gears under load. This provides a total of 24 forward speeds and 12 reverse, from the four gears in three ranges. PowerShift operation is easy and simply involves pressing the Speedshift button to change up or down. Thanks to the combination of Speedshift and de-clutch button, the operator benefits from eight ‘clutchless gears’ in each of the three ranges.
A new cab interior offers better comfort and control. Externally the new vertical exhaust pipe improves visibility by virtually disappearing behind the cab post. Inside there are new switches and layout along with new levers to control the three point linkage and hydraulic valves.
Operators will also appreciate the new Grammer pneumatic suspension seat and noticeably quieter environment.
These new 3600 Series tractors are available in models suitable for standard agricultural use, as well as specialist narrower models for fruit, vineyard and horticultural applications.
