Väderstad: New Swift cultivator launched

The new Swift stubble cultivator from Väderstad that provides high output with low fuel consumption and works efficiently at shallow to medium depth will be available in the UK from autumn 2011. Three machines with working widths of 5.6m, 7.2m and 8.7m are available, and the power requirement is 30hp/m.
The Swift has two frame axles with each axle carrying two rows of tines at 650mm spacing, effectively creating a four-row machine with only two axles, which is a shorter and has a more open frame. A rear-mounted drawbar for attaching a roller to aid consolidation can be fitted as an optional extra.
The Swift is suitable for all soil types as well as in stubble, grassland or on ploughed fields down to a depth of 15cm and is capable of mixing large amounts of crop trash and soil, while leaving a level soil surface.
Vibrating tines are equipped with points to break up the soil while MixIn shins mix and spread soil and trash evenly cross the full working width of the machine.
The range of points available includes 50mm and 80mm versions, a goosefoot share and a Marathon point for longer life. The tines are positioned with 19.3cm spacing to give separation across the full working width of the machine. Cost of wearing parts is reduced by dividing the tine ends into point and shin.

Väderstad’s new Swift cultivator works the soil down to 15cm deep.

Large wheels in the centre of the cultivator coupled with the two-point drawbar attached to the hydraulic arms of the tractor improve manoeuvrability, especially on the headlands.
The Swift has a floating working position so that the wings and centre section follow the soil contours independently. A support wheel on each wing section helps soil contouring and ensures uniform working depth.
Large greaseless levelling discs can be adjusted hydraulically from the cab on the move and are attached to the frame with impact absorbing rubber mountings. Tine levellers are available as an option.
