Claas is now offering three new Corto drum mowers – the Corto 3200 F Profil, 3200 FN Profil and 2800 F Profil – with mowing widths of 3.05m and 2.65m.
The mowers incorporate further improvements to Claas’ proven F Profil kinematics technology. This is centred around the principle that the ground should be what guides the mower, and not the tractor. This has been achieved through a combination of the low pivot point for longitudinal swinging movement of the mower and improved lateral swinging movement. This combination allows the Corto to adapt to the ground contours in three dimensions and independently of the tractor.
From 2012 the new Corto front mowers can also be equipped with Active Float hydropneumatic suspension, which Claas has offered for some years on the Disco disc mower with great success. The principle of Active Float is very simple. The suspension transfers part of the weight of the mower to the tractor, thus converting the frictional resistance generated by mowing into rolling resistance. This protects the sward, prevents crop contamination and demonstrably reduces consumption of diesel.
In order to form an even swath there is the option for two additional swath discs which, thanks to their individual suspension, can be deflected upwards and to the side. The cutting height is either continuously adjustable or made possible by spacer rings, depending on the model. All new Corto front mowers come as standard with quick blade change system and an integrated blade box for spare blades.
Another practical detail is the new Flexguard collision protection device for the side protection frames. When encountering an obstacle, they can be deflected in any direction thanks to the spring suspension. This means that the protection frames and protective covers remain undamaged whenever a collision with an obstacle occurs. An added level of convenience is provided by optional hydraulically folding protective covers, reducing the transport width to 3.00m without the driver having to climb down from the cab.
