A full range of Kverneland round bale wrappers were introduced at Grassland & Muck 2011. Badged the 7700 and 7800 series, this new generation of wrappers includes turntable and satellite models in mounted and trailed versions.
Control systems include remote, manual cable control, semi-automatic and fully automatic computer controlled options, giving different variants of the 7710, 7730, 7740 and 7850 wrappers.
At the top of the range is the 7850 – a trailed, twin satellite model with four endless bale-rolling belts developed for high-capacity, high-output wrapping. A self-loading machine, the 7850 can pick-up bales and wrap on the move while travelling across the field to load the next bale.
The 7850 uses a spur gear drive for the film arms, giving high-speed wrapping, reduced wear and maximum reliability. The fully automated wrapping process also makes the process simple for the operator. A scissor-type film cutter with sharp knives is used for film cut and hold, which generates a clean cut over the full width of the stretch film.
Control options for the 7850 include joystick or computer – the latter offering a fully automatic process, but also giving the operator the choice of manual override or function-by-function operation, to suit in-field conditions.
The 7700-series turntable wrappers include the 7710 linkage-mounted model and two trailed models – 7730 and 7740. The two trailed machines benefit from a wider-spaced chassis that affords a low loading height for the turntable, increasing machine stability and reducing the drop height when wrapped bales are gently tipped from the machine.
In addition, the solid cast counterweight found on previous generation Kverneland wrappers has been replaced by bolt-on wafer weights. With individual weights, operators can fine-tune the balance of the wrapper to more closely match their own bale weights. A spring-loaded film cutter handles the cut and hold function, retaining film in position ready to wrap the next bale.
