Reco has announced that its franchise and importer relationship with Italian manufacturer Maschio Gaspardo SpA will end.
Maschio and Reco have had a long and successful business relationship. For more than 30 years, the two companies have worked together to service the UK farming market.
Over the years, Maschio’s growth has taken it into other lines of machinery – for example seed drills, cultivators, mowers, hedge cutters – and some of Maschio’s newer products have competed with products from Reco’s other suppliers.
As a result, Maschio’s development strategy and Reco’s franchise strategy have become incompatible. In the circumstances, both parties agreed to terminate the import
agreement for power harrows and rotary cultivators.
Reco and Maschio confirmed that the current agreement will run unchanged until the end of 2011. Until that time, in the interests of customers and the farming industry, Reco will continue to promote Maschio and its products at shows and demonstrations, to stock and sell machines, to provide service and parts back up and to meet warranty
commitments.
