Opico: Lower-cost grain dryer for smaller farms

Opico has launched a new recirculating batch dryer with a 12t holding capacity geared towards the grain drying requirements and budgets of smaller arable farms.
The new Magna 120 Eco dryer is a base specification model that offers a 5t/hr drying capacity at a cost of just £28,111+VAT (March 2011), while still including the clean burn, fuel-saving technology of the standard models in the Magna range.
The 120 Eco dryer also has fixed, rather than telescopic, screens, and this enables a simple and quick setup making it a very easily mobile dryer.
Opico managing director James Woolway said the standard Magna 12t dryer had a drying capacity of 6t per hour.
“This new economy version has a slightly reduced throughput and hence a lower cost and will appeal to the more price-conscious buyers on small farms,” he said. “All dryers in the Magna range use a heat system that makes them the cleanest and most efficient diesel-fired dryers on the market.
“The Duax heat core’s brick system retains and builds up heat, ensuring a more even temperature and virtually eliminating unburnt fuel as the burner modulates from high to idle flame.”
