Argo Tractors has announced the addition of a new range of compact and utility tractors to both its McCormick and Landini brands. Ranging from 22-91hp, the new tractors will complement existing product lines.
The new tractors are the result of a deal with South Korean manufacturer Daedong that will see Argo Tractors import, adapts and complete the machines at its plants in Italy and North America for onward sale through selected McCormick and Landini distributors.
“We have finalised the agreement with Daedong recognising the quality and capability of our Korean partner to offer product suitable to fill gaps in our current offering,” Argo Tractors SpA president Valerio Morra said. “We look forward to exploring other opportunities for co-operation with Daedong as the company has shown great willingness to develop future commercial and industrial synergies.”
Argo Tractors’ corporate business director, Simeone Morra, said the company had been asked by its customers to expand its compact tractor product offering.
“We have been working over the past year to make sure we now present a competitive product range with significant benefits over the previous offer and we believe we have reached our goal,” he said.
“The aim for Argo Tractors is to competitively position the new product families so that we attract customers who previously may not have considered McCormick or Landini products during their previous purchase decisions.
“Now they have more choice within our brands and our current and future dealers will benefit from the new business opportunity as well.”
The new tractors will be handled here by AgriArgo UK, based at Harworth, near Doncaster, South Yorkshire.
“We welcome this new partnership between Argo Tractors and one of the world’s most significant manufacturers of compact and utility tractors,” general manager and sales director Ray Spinks said. “Our current models covering this sector have been well received, but they are limited to 57hp. The Daedong-built product will give us a more comprehensive range, including utility farm and horticultural tractors, up to 91hp.”
Because of the extensive product line and specialist nature of some tractors in the range, AgriArgo UK will have a specific franchise contract for the new models so that dealers not currently part of the company’s separate Landini and McCormick networks can handle them.
“I’m sure many of our existing dealers will want to stock the new tractors, but maybe not all; equally there may be other dealers who would like to handle the new machines but not our agricultural tractors,” Mr Spinks added. “By having a separate franchise contract, we will maximise our geographical coverage of the farming, horticultural and groundcare sectors for sales, service and parts back-up.”
Outside its home market, Daedong products are most commonly recognised under the export brand Kioti. The new Landini and McCormick tractors are expected to make their debut in spring this year when details of the range and individual models will be available.
