Horsch launches new UK division

Horsch will launch a new business, Horsch UK Ltd, on 1 January 2011 to act as the sole importer of the company’s drilling and cultivation equipment in the UK and Ireland.
A wholly-owned division of Horsch GmbH, Horsch UK will retain its dealer network and seek to expand the range of products it sells in the UK and Ireland.
“The Horsch brand enjoys a good reputation and our customers ask for our product by name,”
UK and Ireland sales manager, Stephen Burcham, said. “We will continue to work with the same dealers and offer customers the same high standard of customer service.”
Horsch products were previously imported by Simba, but since Simba’s sale to Great Plains, Horsch has taken the opportunity to expand its presence and product offering in the UK.
“Horsch is renowned for is trailed and mounted drills,” Mr Burcham said. “With the launch of the new company we will make our full range of cultivation equipment more widely available, and be able to offer customers a wider selection of products tailored for British farming conditions.”
The new operation will see the dealer network supported by three regional sales managers and a new dedicated parts distribution service based in Lincolnshire.
“We are investing heavily in our parts service and will be holding a wider range of parts for a wider range of products,” Mr Burcham said. “Horsch customers can be confident that superlative service remains our highest priority.”
The Horsch business began in 1981 when Michael Horsch began to modify and develop agricultural machinery at his parents’ farm at Gut Sitzenhof, Germany. The Horsch Seed Exactor was the first breakthrough development, and one that was the mainstay of the business
for many years.
A new assembly hall was built in Gut Sitzenhof in 2002 and a new factory at Ronneburg opened in 2007. Horsch now has more than 500 employees in Germany and more than 1,000 employees internationally including partner companies. The company’s turnover for 2010 was expected to exceed 150 million euros.
