Holmer has upgraded its Terra Felis self-propelled sugar beet loader/cleaner to provide a competition-beating capacity of 560t/hr.
The new Terra Felis 2 is also said to offer a greater range of adaptability than competitor’s products. Advanced adjustability starts at the front, where nine pick-up/cleaning rollers feature a separate speed selectable gearbox for each bank of three rollers. Sugar beet flow direction can also be controlled; a choice of long or extra-long cleaning paths allows the operator to finely tune the level of cleaning. The pick-up head itself is now nearly 10m wide.
The huge capacity of the machine is further boosted by its class-leading 900mm wide intake web and cleaning path right through the cleaner loader. This gives the Terra Felis 2 the capability to clean and transport sugar beet faster, without compromising cleaning efficiency. Maximum discharging distance between the sugar beet and truck is 15m, and the discharge elevator can be turned through 320 degrees.
Holmer’s Vario-Clean patented adjustable cleaning also provides a high degree of control to the amount of cleaning carried out on the machine’s rear-mounted roller-table. The operator can extend or retract the Vario-Clean web over the top of the rollers, adjusting the degree of cleaning, from the cabin.
Powered by a 340hp MAN engine that does not need AdBlue to meet emissions requirements, the Terra Felis 2 features Power-On-Demand computerised engine management to ensure the most efficient use of power and fuel. Full hydraulic power is available with the engine running at only 1,200rpm.
The 560t/hr loading capacity of the Terra Felis 2 is more then twice that of the original Terra Felis. |
A new touch-screen control system provides easy management with a multi-purpose joystick for major functions. Purpose-built for this machine, the driver’s cabin offers a high degree of comfort with clear all-round visibility, climate control air conditioning, effective sound and heat insulation, and a quality CD/radio with Bluetooth mobile ‘phone compatibility. Two cameras and a colour monitor are also fitted as standard. A diesel cabin heater is optionally available with programmable on/off schedules or a remote switch-on facility activated by mobile ‘phone.
The high capacity of the Terra Felis 2 is not limited to the field; it also features a 32km/hr road speed to reduce transport time between fields.
The Terra Felis 2 can be seen working at demonstrations in the UK during January 2011.
