Dammann: Tandem-axle sprayers launched in the UK

Dammann has launched its Profi Class Tandem trailed sprayer range in the UK, offering 8,000-, 10,000- and 12,000-litre tank capacities on a tandem-axle chassis.
The first of the new
sprayers – fromGermany’s market leading self-propelled sprayer manufacturer – has already been been sold to a Norfolk farm by distributor Chantry Dammann UK Ltd.
The Profi Class trailed sprayers are designed for large-scale growers and contractors looking for high-quality with long-term reliability and best possible application accuracy. As with all Dammann sprayers, the tank comes with a five-year warranty.
Spray booms from 24-42m widths are offered; these are 50 per cent aluminium (outer sections) with steel centre sections for maximum durability. The sprayers also feature a new 60-litre capacity induction bowl with an internal flush, and a nozzle for cleaning chemical containers.
The first UK customer was
Dan Matthews, farm manager at Eaubrink River Farm, who ordered an 8,000-litre, 36m boom, twin-axle machine.
“The quality of
Dammann sprayers is second to none when compared to other makes,” he said. “The simplicity of the hose layouts and controls makes you wonder why all manufacturers don’t build sprayers this way.”
A major feature that attracted Mr Matthews was the new electronically controlled rotary agitating and cleaning system in the tank. A full length rotating nozzle equipped shaft automatically maintains a level below the water level, so ensuring efficient mixing in all areas of the tank at all times. This allows precision application of chemicals such as Atlantis herbicide for black grass control.
The Norfolk machine has already sprayed several thousand hectares and the sprayer is reported to
rides very well with great stability on its air suspension chassis. The boom is so stable that it allows spraying at 13 km/hr across cultivated ground with ease.
The Profi Class Tandem can be fitted with the Dammann’s optional HD-Night Lux nozzle lighting with surrounding illumination which should be a great advantage when spraying autumn post-emergence herbicides during short November days.
Dammann offers trailed sprayers for all market sectors; these start with the trailed Land Cruiser, 3,000-4,000 litres, 24-28m booms, for up to 10,000 ha/year. Classic, 4,000-5,800 litres, 18-36m boom, for up to 18,000 ha/year; and Profi Class, 5,000-12,000 litres, 24-42m booms.
Prices for
Dammann Profi Class Tandem models start at £82,000.
