JLG Industries has abandoned plans to develop its own sales network for agricultural telehandlers, choosing instead to sell them exclusively through Deutz-Fahr dealerships.
Same Deutz-Fahr sales marketing and after-sales executive vice-president Franco Artoni said that during the past five years SDF had had considerable success in developing the acceptance and also the market for the telehandlers, which are sold under the Deutz-Fahr Agrovector name.
“JLG’s decision to withdraw the JLG brand from the global agricultural telescopic handler sector and supply its products branded as Deutz-Fahr to the Deutz-Fahr sales network on an exclusive basis will allow the commercial and after-sales activities to be structured on specific competences,” he added. “The agreement will make it possible to strengthen our reciprocal operations focusing on product development and on customer needs.”
The new agreement starts on October 1, 2010, and will run for 10 years. Initially it covers the distribution of the Deutz-Fahr Agrovector 29.6, 29.6LP and the 35.7 models, but that will be extended to include all new products developed in the future.
JLG has produced Agrovector handlers for SDF at its facility in the Netherlands since 2005, while simultaneously developing an agricultural dealer network in selected regions of the world.
The director of sales and customer support for JLG Industries EAME Telehandlers, Jonathan Dawson, said that on mutual reflection, the two companies had decided that focusing on the world-renowned Deutz-Fahr brand and having access to the global Deutz-Fahr dealer network wopuld provide JLG the best opportunity to market in the agricultural sector.
“Under the new agreement, customers will see a more cooperative involvement of local JLG product specialists working directly with Deutz-Fahr subsidiaries, dealers and distributors in the promotion, sales and after sales support of the Agrovector range,” he said.
JLG already makes Agrovector handlers ranging from 2,900-4,000kg capacity and from 6-9m lift heights, but said it had plans to expand this range during the next two years.
