Tecnoma’s market-leading Laser self-propelled series is continuing to grow, not only in sales but also the product range. Following on from last year’s launch of the Laser 3240 and 4240 models, the manufacturer has now launched a new 5,200-litre machine.
The Laser 5240 continues the trend of performance, precision, power, comfort and ergonomics in abundance with its well-proven chassis design and spraying systems demanded by its global customers.
The 244hp power is supplied by a Tier III Deutz six-cylinder engine with an all-new hydrostatic transmission with Rexroth Bosch 125cm variable-displacement pumps. This gives the new Laser 5240 three on-the-go changeable speed ranges of 0-15km/hr, 0-22km/hr and 0-40km/hr that are fully progressive and can either be controlled by the joystick or by the sprayer’s new automotive foot pedal which greatly reduces fuel consumption and operator stress on the road and in the field.
The sprayer rides on the excellent performance of the Axair suspended chassis with track adjustment from the standard 1.80-3.00m and ground clearance from standard of 1.10-1.40m depending on options. Four-wheel steer, crab steering and hillside compensation modes are all standard on this advanced model.
The new Laser comfort cab features 360-degree vision and comes as standard with climate control, MP3-compatible Bluetooth radio, two electric heated mirrors, eight working lights, swivelling air-suspended comfort seat, refrigerated compartment and an adjustable and ergonomic armrest with centralised controls for ease of use.
The Novatec controller gives the operator full control of all the spraying functions at the touch of a button or by using the multi-function joystick gives sequential control to the spray sections, main on/off and all boom hydraulic control. As an option the new Laser 5240 can be fitted with Tecnoma’s Novatop which is a fully Isobus and GPS controller in one which can have the auto section control, auto boom levelling and auto steer fully integrated into the box, unlike many other manufacturers that have retro fitted kits. The Novatop can be upgraded again to a Visio version, which gives the controller a panoramic 25cm screen.
The new Laser 5240 can be fitted with LVS steel booms up to 32m, L3S (three-section) and GVS steel booms up to 38m, LVX aluminium up to 32m and GVX aluminium booms up to 42m. All the booms are suspended by the hydraulically dampened parallelogram system.
The spray controls feature two unique multi-way valves – one for pressure and one for suction – that are fully protected under the side cover so they are always clean when you come to use them. A hydraulically folding induction hopper is also standard equipment with optional Novaflow auto filling and the award-winning Autonet self-contained tank rinsing system which has its own dedicated clean water 70 lit/min pump.
Also now available on the complete range of Tecnoma self-propelled sprayers is the new fully integrated hydraulically adjustable axle system that allows the axle width to be adjusted within a range of 600mm from a dedicated control system in the cab.
