Same Deutz-Fahr has extended the use of its TTV transmission by fitting it to two new models in the four-cylinder Agrofarm range.
The 100hp Agrofarm TTV 420 and 110hp Agrofarm TTV 430 models offer stepless speed adjustment from 0.1-40km/hr, with operator friendliness, intuitive controls and innovative working modes placed at the top of the list.
Designed and built by Same Deutz-Fahr, the compact T5100 transmission is for use specifically in low- to medium powered-tractors and comprises a two-stage planetary transmission with powershuttle and two-speed powershift functions integrated with a hydrostatic pump and motor. This combination provides two working ranges that offer infinitely variable speed adjustment up to 23km/hr for heavy draft work and to 40km/hr for lighter duties and road transport.
A key feature of the transmission is the way it achieves very nearly 100 per cent mechanical efficiency from 5-18km/hr in the first range and 10-38km/hr in the latter, giving the potential for improved fuel economy in these important working speed ranges. The TTV gearbox also allows the Agrofarm models to run with a reduced engine speed of 1,800rpm at 40km/hr, keeping below the engine’s 2,100rpm maximum speed and again leading to fuel efficiency benefits.
The new Agrofarm TTV models are based on the recently introduced Profiline 420 and 430 versions, which feature a four-pillar cab providing 60mm extra head room over the standard model, not only providing ample room for the taller operator, but also a large degree of all-round vision.
An ergonomically designed right hand console incorporates the transmission’s mode control functions. Operators can choose from Manual, Auto and PTO modes, simply by pressing a button on the console, with the selection shown on a display located on the cab’s right-hand A-post.
TTV offers a cruise control function too, which allows any desired travel speed to be stored and recalled. Further adjustment to the TTV’s operating characteristics can be made through a rotary dial that adjusts sensitivity on a scale that extends from Eco through to Power settings. The Eco mode makes full use of the TCD2012 engine’s 1,400-1,700rpm constant torque band, while Power mode operates in the 1,800-2,100rpm constant power zone.
In PTO mode, the rotary dial manages engine speed, enabling engine load to be managed in relation to forward speed. The transmission also includes a Power Zero function, which is a neutral position that holds the tractor stationary, regardless of the angle or slope on which the tractor is placed.
As part of the TTV package, both models are equipped with Sense Clutch, which allows shuttle sensitivity to be adjusted through five settings, simply by flicking a switch on the shuttle lever. This enables the transmission to be further refined to suit the task being carried out.
The Agrofarm TTV’s specification includes electronic joystick and fingertip control of the four spool valves and the rear linkage. Lift capacity of the rear linkage is 6,200kg, while spool valve flow rates can be adjusted and timed.
The arrival of the TTV transmission in the Deutz-Fahr Agrofarm range adds a new, easy-to-use dimension to these medium-powered tractors and extends the transmission options, which also include 40×40 and 60×60 powershift gearboxes.
