McConnel has increased its range of linkage-mounted mowers with the Merlin Xtreme Offset, a model that boasts a number of new features specifically designed to increase the productivity of the professional verge-mowing contractor.
The new range provides working widths of 1.6 and 2.0m, and both models incorporate 600mm of hydraulic offset to allow cutting outside the tractor wheels. This attribute is in addition to a hydraulically adjustable flailhead working angle of +90/-60 degrees, which extends the use of the mowers to the maintenance of banks and ditch sides.
To enable contractors to configure a machine to best suit their preference and match it to the situation it will be used in, the Merlin Xtreme Offset verge mowers are offered in left- or right-hand build options for rear or front Cat 2/3 three-point linkage mounting, with tractor power requirements from 60hp.
Cutting is by a large-diameter rotor, which is PTO-driven at 540rpm or 1,000rpm and incorporates a double spiral flail layout for smooth precise operation. The height of cut is adjustable from 40-160mm, and the combination of the standard hydraulic float system and J-flails mounted on twisted shackles ensure a quality finish every time.
A PTO over-run device and a flailhead safety break-back system provide protection for both the tractor and mower, minimising potential downtime and the repair costs incurred due to damage.
