Valtra has appointed two new dealers in South-west Scotland: Shire Agri-Hires and Cam Engineering.
Taking over the area for Valtra between Newton Stewart and Dumfries is CAM Engineering. Established just five years ago by husband and wife partnership Clive and Jennifer Montgomery, the company sells and services a wide range of new and used agricultural and industrial equipment and plant.
CAM Engineering moved to its current premises at Greenlaw Business Park, Castle Douglas, in early 2007 and here sales and service are handled by Clive assisted by two engineers, while Jennifer controls the office and parts department.
Shire Agri-Hires, located at Bridgemill Business Park, Glen Luce, about 10 miles from Stranraer, is responsible for South-west Galloway from Girvan in the north to Newton Stewart in the east. Established in 1994 by Tom and his father Ken McKie, Shire Agri-Hires has been steadily developing the sale of used and new farm machinery alongside its thriving plant and farm machinery hire and transport businesses.
“The sale of new tractors is a logical progression in our development and from previous experiences we know the Valtra product as reliable and one suitable for farmers in this area,” Tom McKie said.
“We’re please to appoint both CAM Engineering and Shire Agri-Hires as Valtra tractor dealers in South-west Scotland,” Valtra regional manager Martyn Atkinson said. “The two companies fill a gap left by a previous dealer that decided to cease selling new tractors.”
