Massey Ferguson: Enhancements to 3600 Series tractors

Maintaining its policy of continuous product development, Massey Ferguson has introduced two important new options to enhance the operating efficiency and performance of its MF3600 tractors for working in vineyards, orchards and many other specialist applications.
The first new introduction is an Electronic Lift Control (ELC) system enabling customers to raise and lower the tractor’s rear three-point linkage with greater speed, ease and accuracy at the end and beginning of each row. Using electronics to control the rear linkage ensures also more precise and accurate draft operations than a conventional mechanical system.
Neatly integrated into the tractor’s right-hand console, the ELC unit falls conveniently to hand to provide a fast, effective and ergonomic solution for repetitive implement lift and lower actions at each row end.
The ELC system uses a control panel similar in design and operation to other Massey Ferguson tractors with separate rotary dials controlling: working depth/height; the selection of Draft/Position/Intermix functions; speed of rear linkage lowering; and maximum linkage lift height.
The latter three dials are housed beneath the console’s hinged cover while the main control dial for adjusting working depth/height is positioned openly at the front of the console to allow precise adjustments to be made easily on-the-move in the field.
Physical raising and lowering of the tractor’s rear linkage is activated by a three-position rocker switch (up-neutral-down) mounted conveniently at the front of the ELC console. The rocker switch is complemented by an adjacent push button which provides a rapid soil-engaging function when required. Coloured lights within the console illuminate when the rear linkage is being raised or lowered. The console also houses a linkage lock switch, enabling the complete system to be isolated instantly at the touch of a button.
Customers specifying Massey Ferguson’s advanced ELC system will benefit also from external linkage raise/lower switches mounted on both of the tractor’s rear fenders to give faster, easier implement attachment and removal.
ELC is available now as an option on V, S and F versions of MF3600 Series tractors in both cab and footstep formats, and on MF3600GE tractors in cab format only.
MF3600 Series V, S, F and GE tractors are specialist models available in widths from 1.00-1.80m suitable for operations in narrow or confined spaces such as vine, fruit, vegetable and nut production, indoor livestock rearing and working within urban environments.
Super manoeuvrable and with spacious cabs, the MF3600 Series comprises tractors with power outputs of 69hp, 80hp, 92hp and 100hp. All can be specified with two- or four-wheel-drive in a variety of different configurations to suit a host of specialised working applications.
Also now offered as an option in place of the standard down-swept exhaust system on all MF3600 Specialist tractors fitted with a cab, the new vertical exhaust is designed for customers that need to ensure that engine exhaust gases are directed away from valuable, high-quality grapes and other low-growing fruits and vegetables.
Mounted on the left-hand side of the tractor, the vertical exhaust system directs exhaust gases forward at high level, keeping them well away from the cab and the ground. As a bonus, the careful positioning of the exhaust outlet helps further reduce noise levels within the MF3600’s spacious cab – already one of the quietest in its class.
