Horstine: Front-mounted boom for AirStream applicator

The new Horstine AirStream boom optimises fertiliser application.

Horstine’s AirStream granular fertiliser applicator is now available with a 6m folding, front-mounted boom that allows fertiliser to be applied to crops grown in beds at the pre- and post-planting stage or to salad and brassica grown in rows.
By accurately targeting fertiliser application to the top of the bed and not to the wheelings, fertiliser availability to the crop can be optimised. Fertiliser applied into the wheelings remains largely unavailable to the crop. Avoiding this therefore offers potential reduction in fertiliser rates without compromising crop performance. For salads and brassica crops grown in rows AirStream can be used to apply precise bands of fertiliser.
AirStream is currently available with a 6m manually or hydraulically folding boom that attaches to the front of the AirStream frame. It can be quickly removed if necessary and delivers granular fertiliser to fishtail spreaders for bed-top application or band application nozzles for row crop applications.
Air Stream comes with a 1,000-litre or 2,000-litre stainless steel hopper with individual metering to each outlet controlled by an electronic rate control system and hydraulically driven fan. An automatic headland shutoff facility helps to reduce over application on field boundaries while low hopper level sensors warn the operator when the tank is due to run empty.
