Simba Horsch: Fast combined drilling from 8m Sprinter

The new Sprinter 8SW drill features an 8,000 litre seed/fertiliser cart that will enable users to achieve huge daily output when combined drilling.
It uses Horsch’s unique Duett coulters to sweep trash away from the seeding area before placing starter fertiliser and seed in a well cultivated seedbed. The self-cleaning tyre packer and harrow that run behind the coulters guarantee excellent consolidation, which optimises soil-to-seed contact.
The drill’s coulters are at 28cm spacings and set on three rows (so there is 84cm between coulters on the same row). They both cultivate the soil and place the seed, spreading it across up to 75% of the seedbed thanks to their unique design.
Tines are equipped with an overload-protection device, while a trip force of 200kgs guarantees they maintain consistent drilling depth. The Classic and MultiGrip tines can be combined with all types of coulter offered by Horsch if required.
In field tests the drill has proved capable of placing seed and fertiliser very accurately, so that young seedlings can quickly access the nutrients supplied, and so develop quickly and healthily.
This is especially valuable in getting seedlings through the vulnerable weaning stage when they have exhausted the seed’s nutrient supplies, but have insufficient roots to fully access those in the soil. Users commonly report that the plants continue growing more strongly, and crops are less prone to slug, pigeon and other damage as a result.
