Simba Horsch: Beefed-up terrano cultivators

Horsch new-style Terrano FX range of cultivators have been proved to require about 20% less fuel than their leading competitors in DLG field tests. The new range features a heavier-duty frame that enables it to be used behind bigger and higher horsepower tractors, which enables customers to optimise output.
They are fitted with the second-generation TerraGrip tines that Horsch introduced to the new Tiger models at Agritechnica 2007. These have a trip release force of 500kg and a maximum trip power of just 20% higher, which helps protect both the coulters and the frame.
The design of this new-style tine has been guided by the experience gained from the 70,000 copies of the original design we made, and they will be available on all Terrano FX5, FX4 and FX3 machines.
Terranos are compact three-bar cultivators capable of performing a wide range of tasks, from shallow stubble cultivation to just 5cm deep, or a more thorough trash and stubble mixing operation to a depth of 30cm.
Horsch staff were not surprised by the results of the DLG tests; several of them combined together to pull a machine manually at the company’s headquarters at Schwandorf, South West Germany.
