John O’Groats machinery dealer JT Cormack is looking forward to a boost for its business with the company’s appointment as sales, service and parts dealer in the Highlands for the McCormick tractor range.
“We’ve had a successful relationship with John Cormack for the past 20 years as the Highland dealer for our Landini range of tractors,” AgriArgo UK’sScottish area managerMartin Ingram said. “The two ranges are normally handled quite separately, but we decided to make an exception in this case to ensure McCormick users get the best service and parts back-up.”
Based at Huna, near John O’Groats, JT Cormack is a traditional family partnership: dealer principal John Cormack looks after sales and parts, with his wife Dot and daughter-in-law Morag keeping a tight rein on administration and accounts.
Eldest son John heads the workshop team of Shaun McLean and Andrew McKenzie, while younger son Sandy Cormack handles machinery demonstrations and trade-ins, and spends much of his time behind the wheel of the delivery truck.
“There’s quite a few McCormick tractors in the area, especially on Orkney, so we’ll be pulling out all the stops to help owners with routine servicing, repairs and parts supply,” John Cormack said. “We have some pretty good workshop facilities, so we can do a proper job.”
With beef and sheep farming the predominant activity in the area, the McCormick C-Max, CX and MC four-cylinder tractors are expected to be the best sellers.
“We have an MC120 and loader demonstration tractor, but we’re also going to run a new-style MTX six-cylinder model,” Sandy Cormack said. “It’s a good down-to-earth tractor for people that want the performance, but not too many fancy frills.”
Today’s McCormick line-up extends from 23hp compact tractors to the 225hp flagship TTX line, with a good choice of other four- and six-cylinder tractors in between.
