Lemken: Juwel plough replaces the Opal range

Lemken exhibited its new Juwel mounted plough at Agritechnica 2009. Successor to the successful Opal series, it offers the high-quality work of its predecessor together with new options and enhanced user-friendliness.
A new electro-hydraulic control of the turnover device means plough pitch can be set from the tractor seat. A sensor monitors the plough rotation in relation to the headstock, with the operator being able to fine tune the angle without need to leave the cab. The system is independent from hydraulic oil pressure eliminating the chance of unwanted adjustment of the plough pitch.
Juwel has been designed to increase clearance between the support wheel and the ground. This is an advantage to tractors with low lift height, or with the larger four and five furrow models. New for Juwel, is the hydraulic support wheel with integrated damper. It provides the possibility to adjust working depth hydraulically even with larger ploughs and heavy soil.
The skimmers of the new
Lemken Juwel have also been re-designed. The improved shape and modified position of the stalk provide blockage-free ploughing even in difficult conditions. Working depth and angle can be adjusted simply without tools.

Lemken’s new Juwel plough in six-furrow format with slatted mouldboards.

All Juwel ploughs can be equipped with the new DurraMaxx generation of plough bodies that provide mouldboards or slats without any drill or punch holes. As a result, extra hard steel can be used without risk of cracking. The design, not only allows harder-wearing steel to be used, but also removes the load from the parts, meaning they can be worn thinner without breaking. DuraMaxx parts are simply hooked onto a frame without any bolts, cutting down exchange time substantially. For the first time, every single slat is also available in plastic material to fully meet the working conditions in very sticky soils and enable more cost-effective ploughing.
The new Hydromatic auto-reset safety device provides improved plough protection. A maintenance-free support point ensures tripping plough bodies are guided back precisely into working position after encountering an obstacle. With 38cm upward and 20cm sideward movement, there is always enough tripping space for blockage-free work even when ploughing deeply. Trip pressure can be adjusted conveniently from the tractor seat to suit changing soil conditions in the field.
Ploughs, made by the specialist Lemken, are precisely manufactured to minimise overall weight.  A bolted frame design allows hardened frame parts to be used, meaning the new Juwel mounted plough is very strong and durable. An OF version, that enables ploughing on-land, as well as in the furrow, is available. Hydraulic working width adjustment is available where required. With the proven Optiquick adjustment centre, front furrow width and optimal pull point can be adjusted easily and efficiently, independently of each other. This is the only way to reduce fuel consumption and wear to a minimum.
