Amazone: Cirrus drills gain a rotary cultivator for added convenience

On farms with a mixture of cropping, the need for sowing technology with the broadest possible field of applications is paramount. A common wish is to achieve both with the greatest precision and yet the highest level of convenience. To meet these demands, Amazone now offers the Cirrus Activ range.
Difficult local conditions with variable soils are also encountered in large-scale arable farms. So that these conditions can be ideally managed for plough or mulch sowing, the familiar Cirrus series is being expanded to include this active variant in 2010. Instead of the two-row disc cultivator used in the Cirrus Super and Special, a rotary cultivator will be fitted to the Cirrus Activ for seedbed preparation.
The integrated KG603-2 rotary cultivator ensures that the soil particles and crop residues are evenly mixed as required and thus creates the necessary proportion of fine soil for the subsequent seed embedment. Preceding tyre packers ensure that the rotary cultivator is reliably controlled for depth under all conditions. The working intensity of the rotary cultivator can always be adapted to the local conditions using different rotor speeds.
In addition, the depth of the rotary cultivator can be adjusted on the move during the work. Stone release is integrated as standard meaning that the rotary cultivator is not susceptible to stony ground. In accordance with the method first roll, then sow, the preceding wedge ring tyres on the Cirrus Activ also takes on the function of appropriately reconsolidating the soil in strips. In comparison to the two familiar Cirrus series, the diameter of the wedge ring tyres has been increased on the active variants from 800-1,050mm. This makes the Cirrus Activ particularly easy to pull, even on over-loosened and poorly reconsolidated ploughed soil.
On the Cirrus Activ, RoTeC coulters are responsible for the accurate seed placement. A disc diameter of 400mm, together with an adjustable coulter pressure of up to 50kg/coulter, ensures that the coulters run extremely smoothly. The row spacing with the new Cirrus Activ is 12.5cm; sufficient coverage of the seed is provided by the following III-S exact harrow. The intensity with which the exactharrow works the soil can be adjusted either manually or hydraulically.
If spring corn and rape are sown in dry locations, the Cirrus Activ can be equipped with a roller harrow bar as an option. The standard exact harrow is then not provided.
All machine-specific functions are operated using the Amatron on-board computer. This includes the calibration and headland functions.
The Cirrus Activ comes with a working width of 6m. For optimum and efficient working, a tractor with a power output of 250hp or greater is needed. Average working speeds vary from 12-15km/hr.
