Pöttinger has introduced a new generation of ploughs, the new semi-mounted Servo 6.50, that combines the characteristics of mounted and semi-mounted ploughs.
The pulling strain on the Servo 6.50 is taken up by the large-dimensioned plough beam. The transport wheel is guided by a steering rod that controls the depth of the plough. The working depth is adjusted by engaging limit stops – no tools required. The new plough is suitable for fenceline ploughing since the wheel runs inside the working width.
The plough is hooked up to the tractor using clevis-type mounting lugs on the headstock. What is unique on the new Servo 6.50 is that the pivot point is positioned much further forward. The drag line runs directly along the plough at the level of the lower linkages. The result is that any side forces are minimised and the driving stability and steering of the tractor are improved.
The settings are made centrally using a mechanical turnbuckle or optional hydraulic cylinder for adjusting the leading furrow width. The Plus versions feature hydraulic leading furrow width adjustment as standard equipment.
Setting up a new plough is easy: simply adjust the plough to match any brand of tractor with any distance between tyres to find the perfect basic plough setup. An extremely wide range of settings is possible. Even in the most difficult conditions the leading plough body can be shifted from landside into the furrow. This means that trouble-free ploughing can be ensured, even if the tractor has reached the limit of its power output. This capability is also useful on slopes or to pass over trouble spots in the field.
The working width is adjusted mechanically by adjusting the length of the infinitely-variable control linkage. On Plus versions this adjustment
is made hydraulically. All that needs to be done afterwards is to adjust the leading furrow width.
The new shear protection system protects against overloading of the plough bodies on standard and Plus ploughs. The Nova version, proven a thousand times over, provides hydraulic protection against overloading. The infinitely-variable tripping force can be adjusted hydraulically while
ploughing.
A Traction Control add-on module is also available for the Servo 6.50. This enables the weight of the plough to be transferred to the tractor.Transmitting force through the Traction Control system optimises the ground tracking of the plough at the same time as applying a permanent load to the rear wheels of the tractor. This reduces wheel slip and prevents harmful smearing of the soil surface caused by the rear wheels. The lugging power of the tractor is greatly improved so that ploughing work is more efficient and cost effective.
