Claas: Extra-wide four-rotor swather

In order to ensure a uniform level of dry matter, swather technology for professional forage harvesting has to be adapted to mowers of increasing width and power. This is why  Claas’ four-rotor swathers have been able to establish themselves on the market, especially in the area of large-scale harvesting across multiple farms.
Along with the tried and tested Liner 3000, a new model with even greater working width is now available. With four rotors of equal size (3.80m rotor diameter), the new Liner 4000 has a total working width of 15m. As a result, this Claas product meets the demands of increasingly powerful choppers and rising harvesting volumes.
This new professional swather is not only powerful, it is also equped with a number of practical features. Thanks to a clever folding mechanism, the machine can be folded down to a compact size for transport. It is possible to drive under 4m high underpasses or bridges without needing to remove the tine arms. This is a practical detail that gives the operator a lot of time, money and patience.
The Liner 4000 is equipped with the new 14-arm high-peformance swath gearbox, which has already proven its capabilities on the liner 2900 and liner 1750. For many years, Claas has followed the concept of a closed rotor housing with continuous lubrication and cam track rollers running inside an oil bath. This design has been retained in the newly developed generation of swath gearboxes due to its proven durability, service life and ease of maintenance – there are no grease nipples.
Due to the significantly lower drive forces on the rotor drive, Claas always uses a purely mechanical rotor drive with propeller shafts (as opposed to a hydraulic drive system). Each rotor is equipped with a separate safety clutch.
The arms of the rotors at the front and rear are hydraulically extendable. This allows the working width to be varied infinitely between 12.20-15.00m. At the rear the telescopic design allows the swath width to be easily varied between 1.50-2.60m from the cab.
In addition, all settings can be adjusted conveniently from the drivers seat using the Claas Communicator Isobus terminal. Claas can also supply the liner with hydraulic height adjustment upon request. The driver can store up to four individually variable raking heights in the control terminal and call them up at any time.
The convenient control system includes time-dependent headland control and an individual lifting function. Various functions can also be transferred to the ground speed control  on the Isobus function keys of the tractor via an Isobus connecting cable to the tractor.
The large standard tyres – 620/40 R22.5 – ensure maximum ground protection. The lifting mechanism does not just lift at the headland, it also pulls the rotors closer to the main frame for additional operating safety in the field.
