Knight Farm Machinery: Largest 1830 self-propelled sprayer yet

A self-propelled sprayer with a 36m boom and 3,500-litre capacity tank was an eye-catching feature of Knight Farm Machinery’s stand at the 2009 Cereals Event. Knight’s self-propelled sprayers won a Silver Medal from the RASE three years ago, and this was the biggest version Knight had ever shown.
The machine at the show had a 175hp Perkins engine driving hydrostatic motors on each wheel, with extended drop legs providing 1.2m of clearance. Independent air-bag suspension with automatic ride-height control compensates for weight changes as the chemical in the tank is used.
The Maximiser pressurised circulation system on the machine reduces the plumbing and the volume of fluid retained. It responds quickly and accurately to the control system – for example, when GPS is being used to prevent overlapping applications.  The machine at Cereals had 12 sections controllable in this way through a Muller Comfort system, which also had an optional automatic boom levelling feature. Control on the move is provided by a multi-function joystick linked to the Muller system.
Operation of the spraying system on the machine has been reduced to three buttons that select all normal filling, rinsing and washing processes, and most of the pipe-work is automatically flushed and re-mixed during filling.
