Amazone will unveil its new Cayena 6000 drill at Cereals 2009.
With the emphasis still firmly on low-cost crop establishment, this new min-till drill, consisting of a tine seeder, covering harrow and wedge packer roller, is ideal for use in marginal soils, particularly heavy or stony ground.
It can operate at high speed, but has a low horsepower requirement of just 135hp. Drilling costs are thus kept to an absolute minimum.
The Cayena features three rows of staggered TineTec coulters on a narrow 16.6cm row spacing for maximum germination. The combination of front support wheels and rear packer means it maintains an optimum planting depth.
Utilising the Cirrus metering system and 2,800-litre tank, the TineTeC coulters are followed by an Exact harrow III-S that closes the seed furrow and then consolidates only where the seed has been drilled with the following wedge ring tyres.
The wedge ring tyres are also used for road transport, for which the drill folds hydraulically to 3m.
The machine is said to be perfectly happy in both min-till and conventional seed beds with excellent trash clearance and seed depth control.
