Abrey Agricultural, which is best known as the UK agent for Biso headers, has identified a complimentary product in a range of auger extensions made in Canada and used throughout North America and Australia.
The company is now marketing combine unloading auger extension kits made by Stewart Steel of Saskatchewan. The Extender is a simple add-on kit for Case IH, John Deere, Massey Ferguson and New Holland combines.
From a safety viewpoint, an auger extender keeps the grain trailer away from the header, avoiding possible collision. It also keeps the trailer off the straw rows, avoiding compaction or dragging prior to baling.
The extender comprises a steel flight extension, typically around 30-36 inches long depending on the combine make and model, a colour-matched steel extension sleeve and an extended chute with grain-saver door.
The kits, which were on display on the Abrey Agricultural stand at Cereals 2009, have a retail price of £1,400.
