Mounted sprayers still account for about 50 per cent of the total UK market. However, within this sector the demands of the operator is wide and numerous. The common factor in the buying decision is application accuracy, cost-effective products and modern technology to reduce the workload for the operator. Tecnoma, an international player within the Exel Group of companies, has just introduced two new mounted sprayer ranges that address these issues and will help ensure the company’s position within the industry is maintained.
The New Premis series, with tank capacities ranging from 300-800 llitres is a robust, compact sprayer incorporating a number of design features with practical environmental solutions aimed at the utility industry and smaller mixed farms. The ergonomic design of Premis ensures excellent visibility and manoeuvrability for the operator when transporting through narrow country lanes and awkward fields
The Premis has been designed with efficient cleaning characteristics comprising a polyethylene moulded tank incorporating a rotating Lavton tank wash and a 40- or 80-litre (sized to tank capacity) clean water rinse tank as standard. These features ensure the unit is thoroughly cleaned and all chemical residues are removed.
Tank filling is direct via the main lid, and features a two-stage, 500-micron filtration. Chemical induction is achieved on Premis 600- and 800-litre versions with the venturi-operated Spirovit.
The Tecnoma Premis is aimed at smaller farms and the utility sector. |
Piston/diaphragm pumps deliver 70 lit/min on the Premis 300-litre and 400-litre sprayers and 115 lit/min on the 600-litre and 800-litre version. The pump is well enclosed in the chassis, enhancing ground clearance and PTO shaft movement.
All Premis models are simple to use, embracing all aspects of applications using well-proven distribution systems comprising either manual or pneumatic regulator. Options include in-cab main on/off control by means of joystick or the electric Regulair EV system.
The 300-litre and 400-litre Premis Compact models are available with the 7m AZ manual fold boom, while the 600-litre and 800-litre models offer a 12m TA rear folding boom. All models are supplied with the single Rapidfix nozzle body with DCV antidrip.
Maxis
The Maxis sprayer has been designed for customers looking for high output with the ability to integrate precision agriculture technology while maintaining the principles of safety and stability.
Offering tank capacities of 1,200 and 1,600 litres, this state-of-the-art unit provides a smooth, rounded appearance that fits snugly behind the tractor offering the operator excellent all round visibility when in the field or on the road. Excellent stability is achieved through a quick-attachment arrangement closely coupled to the tractor to reduce off-set weight. This is aided by a security lock and adjustable parking stand with safety in mind.
Two multi-way valves at the Operating Station manage all filling functions. Standard specification includes roto-moulded polyethylene tank, three rotating tank washing nozzles, and a market-leading 180-litre capacity clean water rinse tank. Available as an option is Tecnoma’s award-winning Autonet sequential dilution system that enables a quick and simple disposal of all chemical residues left in the sprayer tank after spraying.
Operator access to the main tank is by an integral retractable step. The tank is drained by using a simple manually operated drain valve. The ergonomic design is maintained throughout the Maxis, with a fully integrated and retractable 15-litre induction hopper with can wash and rinse gun, an external sight gauge, 20-litre hand wash tank and storage area. The 160 lit/min piston diaphragm pump is located well within the tank/chassis improving the underbelly clearance.
In 2008 Tecnoma introduced a complete new range of control systems. The Maxis can be equipped with any system from this comprehensive range to suit the individual needs of each operator.

Tectronic and Novatec have DPAE regulation, proportional flow to forward speed using a speed sensor, motorised regulating valve and flow-meter controlled distribution by means of Tecnoma solenoid valves. The Novatec Canbus system has a joystick controller for easy use.
Novatop embraces Isobus technology utilising one, multi-function colour control panel with a joystick. This control system is also used by Tecnoma on its trailed and self-propelled units. Novatop fully supports precision agriculture; it is GPS ready with a guidance system, and has a light bar integrated in the display and automatic boom section control. Novatop also has a flow and application control along with a memory stick that records and transfers field data.
All Maxis booms are fitted with stainless steel spraylines and Pentajet diaphragm check valves with nozzles from the Nozal range.
The Maxis has the option of two boom specifications with a range of operating widths. The popular and best-selling HLE boom has many features including Albatross suspension and hydraulic tilt, hydraulic controls by means of SC circuit selector or ED controls. The new RA boom is a three-section, rear vertical folding arrangement, featuring hydraulic lift with nitrogen accumulators, and hydraulic lateral folding with automatic boom lock.
